I've been thinking a lot about stretching time. 
smearing textures to obscure but also to take a closer look. 
I think what we all want is more easily found either 
birds eye or magnified to the most extreme. 

I've been thinking about 
stretching, 
stretching 
time. 

A moment lost, then found, 
then explored to infinity, then perhaps forgotten. 

So caught up in the immediate – we lose sight of the infinite, 
the looping — 

I've been thinking a lot about now 
but maybe in a way you haven't thought of, 
(maybe you had or have before) 
but I've been thinking a lot about examination, 
magnification as retribution and freedom. 

I've been thinking about the end — 
is it so different than now or 
does it merely act as bookend 
and thus drama is procured — 

I've been thinking about 
literally 
emotions smeared slowly 
across something that acts as canvas — 

I think we all look for canvases as friends and 
lovers as mirrors, 
to investigate — 
exploring time, 
exploring the infinite — 
I've been thinking a lot about stretching these times, 
one moment as symbology 
but realization that all moments are just as equal and 
profundity in the mundane, 

I've been thinking about magnification and 
the decision to shift the mundane to a profound status — 
to lose ones self again and again through magnification 
-/ what a rush — 
to actually care about now as apposed to 
conceptualizing the 
living fuck out of it, 
instead of beating your 
life fucking senseless with 
irony leaving it 
alone to die

concepts of emotional exposure

at what point is the exposure too much 
at what point do you snap? 
I've been thinking about stretching moments to cherish 
what there is in front of me, 
I don't want to lose 
what there is in front of me, 
I want to celebrate exposure, 
stretching, 
smeared emotions — 

the first time I thought this way was 
when it started 
there were 
references to previous masters 
yes, 
I want to be like the pollock of sound 
I want to find inherent freedom 
in the lack of structure 
I want to find the most structure 
after tipping 
a tipping point 
to see what happens then

Sweater On Polo AKA Mali “STRINGS” Mase was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, a slow but beautiful suburb 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. He spent pretty much all of his teenage years skateboarding and trying to stay out of trouble. He started producing trap and rap beats at 17 but quickly got tired of trying to impress local rappers so switched to atmospheric drum and bass and house music which he found less compromising. He has been living in New York since 2017, where he skates and makes music as much as possible and leads a generally mellow life.

“Travel International EP is about moving, traveling, and seeking adventure in life. Not only physically, but also mentally. My goal with all of these tracks was to allow myself to get lost somewhere between the simplicities and complexities of the grooves. I wanted the music to sound fruitful and universal. There’s no particular setting for this music. I just hope wherever the listener desires to make use of it, they can hear it. Half of the EP was sequenced on a DAW, the other half with hardware and recorded onto blank cassettes or into a DAW, so you’re gonna hear some differences between the mediums used.
I want to thank everyone that supported me throughout this journey between the time I started producing and this record being released. I want to thank my two very close friends Julian and Yash for being at the very start of this when I was only 17. Special thank you to everyone I’ve met in NYC and across the globe. Enjoy”
