Tre Ess’s latest drop is a collaboration of epic proportions with 8 other Indian rap artists - Tienas, Cizzy, Jay Killa, Gravity, Kav-E, Nihal Shetty and the Accountant. NEW RELIGION is a multilingual rap anthem with darker undertones. Tre Ess produced the beat with the idea of treating it as a living, breathing entity; the beat changes and molds according to each rapper’s lyrics or flows.  From it’s humble beginnings, Indian Hip Hop has come a long way, NEW RELIGION is a clear representation of what the future holds, with rappers showcasing more versatility than ever before.

Based out of Kolkata, Rounok Cizzy Chakraborty is the most prominent voice in bringing Bengali rap to the masses. With an exceptional ability to blend in with any style of music, Cizzy is the pioneer and the known face of Bangla rap in India and started rapping way back in 2009. Due to Hindustani Classical training, he has a unique approach towards Hip Hop music and an inclination towards bangla folk.

Tienas (Azadi Records) | English | Mumbai -

Tienas is a rapper based out of Mumbai, repping Azadi Records and FTS Elementaries. Known to have a very smooth nonchalance style of rapping, it was interesting to see how Tienas would switch his style since his particular song required a thematically aggressive approach. 

Kav-E | English | Mumbai –

Kav-E is one of the few classic spoken word artists of Mumbai rap scene who notably stands out because of effortlessly switching to newer styles of Hip-Hop over time. Hailing from Goa, Kav-E has made a name for himself by rapping in his native tongue of Konkani but chose to rap in English for NEW RELIGION. He has won numerous rap championships and accolades over the years. His struggle was captured in the hip hop documentary, Breaking Bombay.

Gravity | Hindi | Mumbai  - 

Gravity was  was shortlisted to appear on the track even before there was a beat. Tre’s favorite Hindi rapper in the country right now, Gravity is known for being a wordsmith. He’s been consistently evolving with every single track he has released and like Tienas, he’s also dropping his debut project this year. Representing the side of Indian Hip-Hop that many others have claimed to rep but few are as genuine. Gravity is based out of Mumbai and is also part of the collectives, Death Clutch Music and Bombay Lokal.

'Jhand' - Bandish Projekt, Swadesi (Ft. 100RBH)

The varied taste and sounds used by these artists is what makes this compilation intriguing. The essence of this five-track compilation consists of the fresh Indian sampled sounds used by the artists. All the artists in the compilation have used a different approach to using the samples that can be heard in the tracks. 

Vedang; a Pune based producer represents All Star Sauce Records’. His track, Tamil Slow Jam". Which, in his own words, is a “flip” on a classic Tamil Track, fused with trap drums, gives it a perfect feel of a Tamil Slow Jam. 
All Star Sauce is also showcasing Ukato’s track Antaratm. A New Delhi based producer, Utkarsh Singh and his track Antarama about which he adds “as an attempt at creating a hybrid between groovy halftime hip hop and footwork/juke, to create a distinct shuffling groove, which is followed by a chaotic footwork/juke section to introduce variety.” Lastly, we have 21-year-old Adil Meshram a.k.a GNRS (pronounced: generous) with his track “Yoddha”. A producer based in Nagpur, India. Who’s passion for Indian instruments/sound can be felt in his recent works, Moksh and Aghori. His track, “Yoddha” which translates directly to “Warrior” aims to bring out the warrior in his listeners and help them combat whatever it is in life that they are going through. 

From Ghelo Records, we’re featuring talent from Captain fuse, who claims to have dedicated everything he’s got to invading electronic music with Indian sounds. Abhi Malhotra, a.k.a Dutty Deeds who is a professional music producer, began his career as a part of an award-winning L.A. based music collective called Kickstand Studios. With a focus on electronic music and sound design, Abhi has had his work featured both in prominent Hollywood films. He is a protege of Damian Wagner [Producer: Michael Jackson, David Bowie] and strives towards cutting edge production & fresh musical ideas. 
Making his mark in India, he is a music producer for Monica Dogra, and collaborations and credits also include acts such as Su Real, Laxmi Bomb, Bombay Bassment, Madelyn Ghost, Bass Against Machine and more.
