'I Should be' was an incredibly special record for me even before the remix.  Christmas 2014, 5 months before I would drop out I got the best Christmas present of a lifetime. I'm a huge Danny Brown fan and one of his go to producers from Detroit, Skywlkr was giving away a pack of beats for the low in the spirit of the holidays. I just happened to be sitting on twitter then and was quick/lucky enough to get the pack. The first beat I latched on to was 'I Should be'. I wrote a majority of the original version in my moms house that Christmas and it turned into the first song I would write for the album I released at the end of September 2020 'F.A.T.E'. Fast forward to 2019 and 'F.A.T.E' is being mixed and mastered. In March of that year on my birthday, the stars around my fandom and passion aligned once again and Danny Brown's cousin and fellow Bruiser Brigade member Dopehead invited me out to Detroit to play a show and kick it. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life but unfortunately someone gripped Dopeheads phone at the show so we weren't able to link in the studio the next day but getting a feature was always on the table. Fast forward a year or so and I'm super broke. Working another dead end job with all my money tied up in music specifically my album. Me and Dopehead had been rapping and he was down to hop on the 'I Should be' record and even checked out the album! I was so broke though my lil homie offered some bread to help out because I wouldn't ask. So I finally get the verse and mind you I'm ecstatic. I used to listen to Danny Brown's 'XXX' all day every day in high school and especially my math class and I'd always fall out on the 'Bruiser Brigade' record when Dopehead says 'I'm higher than Swizz Beats hairline'. I really had a Bruiser verse. Now I had to figure out who else to get on the song. My first thought was Theodore Grams. I had watched him come up in high school before the fallout I'd see a few years after dropping out and he was on his way back more driven and focused than ever. His comeback also proved he's one of the best if not 'THE' best rapper in Philly and I was truly honored he'd take the time out and snap on this record how he did. If it wasn't for my management I wouldn't have even done a verse after his! I'm really excited about this record no matter who else is or isn't because high school Tawobi can't believe the life he's living right now.
