The ninth release of katharsis is the EP “Journey Before Destination” by @jjjacob, which is the first full release of the label founder on his own label. The EP spans six tracks and is quite a deviation in sound from his earlier releases on labels such as ANBA, high heal and Sweat Taste. Taking a step away from his usual tools of heavily automated synths and complex midi-based melodies, this EP focuses closely on recordings of acoustic instruments and vocals done by jjjacob himself throughout the pandemic year.

Tallinn-based producer Dharma Doom has performed and released music under many aliases and groups, with each collaboration and side project revealing a different slice of the wide spectrum of styles and sounds in his arsenal. He is something of a shapeshifter, showing up one night as one half of Ost Euro to deliver floor-filling minimal techno improvisations and then reappearing on the next to perform a raw and emotional noise set with his other trio project Keetai. Through years of moving between various mediums and expressions of sound, he has developed a subtle yet distinct sonic language — one that is often menacing and gritty, but also intimate and meditative.

His new solo EP, “A Place Between Places”, feels like a 7-track guided meditation through ideas and influences absorbed from years of side projects, experimentations and collaborations — combined and refined into a rich collage of club music and textural ambient.

'Genetic Trauma' is the first single from the incredible album by the Danish producer.

"Music as the only relief valve at the hospital. After suffering a brain haemorrhage, in a wheel chair and with the right side of his body paralysed, jjjacob looked for a refuge on his laptop creating music until his wounds healed. The Danish producer realised that his music "quickly changed from being only about having fun and making stuff that sounded cool to trying to express some of the crazy feelings and thoughts going through my head".
