This song was originally pitched to Kylie in December 2011, during the very early sessions for what eventually became her Kiss Me Once album. 
According to one of the writers (Chad Richardson), ´Yo Yo´ was wholly penned with Kylie in mind; the producer of the track, Ant Whiting, asked Chad and Emily Phillips to lay down both lyrics and melody atop the instrumental, to deliver something that could scream Classic Kylie all over (as Parlophone was requesting at the time). 
Once they were finished with it, the demo for ´Yo Yo´ was sent to Minogue’s headquarter and apparently the trio was about to land that fish. However, Kylie’s crew had second thoughts a few weeks later and told Chad the song had a great summery vibe and potential, but sounded a little reminiscent of Kylie’s previous hits, so they decided not to go with it anymore. 
After being ditched by Minogue label, ´Yo Yo´ has been given to and recorded by Japanese popstar Crystal Kay, and the final version is currently available on her album Vivid, released globally in June 2012.
