Chef Red - Floating

Chef Red (born as Laurens Gerssen, 1992) is a rather artist exceptional from Amsterdam. His love for all things soul, funk and jazz inspired him to start creating his own music and sound. His tenacious attitude and years of practice has allowed him to reach a certain stage in his craft, and perhaps the best way to describe a Chef Red sound is the combination of a warm melody or bass, complimented by a tight drum. Not forgetting his constant references to the 70's & 80's, and you get a good idea of where he's coming from.

He's back with the second release on DTW, and this time, Chef choose to explore different bpms, and 'Floating' is a clear representation of that. Borrowing from the deeper trap sounds, a grittier side of him comes alive - a side we hear immense potential in. 
Chef is also working on an Artist Spotlight release for us which will be dropping in the next few weeks or so -  do keep a lookout for that.

Phuture Collective : Who is your favorite person? How do they influence what you love?

ALENAI : Not. Fair. Hahahaha.

The first person that comes to mind, though, is my Guru, Shree Maa. She has taught me so much about life, about death, and who I am as a person. Everything that I do now, and more so how I do it, is ultimately influenced by Her in some way. I am still learning from Her, and will be for the rest of my life.

The High Noon project is a collaboration of five music producers and a visual artist of varying style and experience on a mission. An artist pact of sorts, High Noon will put the participants into a creative pressure cooker; pushing them to create unique pieces of art under a strict time constraint, seeking to confront and challenge the common pitfall of overcomplicating and overproducing art.

More pact than competition, High Noon will revisit the old homage of "practice makes perfect" while putting the creators to the true test: creating, finishing, and releasing new works ever week for 5 weeks.
