Continuing to prove their industry-leading scouting abilities, Korean drum and bass label Confucian Sound have enlisted in brand-new signee Vosko for their next release, the gritty two-tracker “Mononofu”.

Having cemented his reputation with a string of releases on acclaimed labels including Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s Technique Recordings, Canada’s DoYu Digital, American imprint Abducted LTD and the Czech Republic’s Empire Recordings, the Italian DJ/producer has already exhibited a decidedly international outlook since emerging on the scene a few years ago.

“Mononofu” serves as the third release this year from the Rome-based innovator, leaning into his signature style of jagged, yet minimal techstep creations. The release’s title track opens with syncopated breakbeats and mechanical whirs, building up to crunchy crescendos anchored on distorted basslines, shuffling percussion and echoing vocal cuts. Its counterpart, “You Hear Me”, is comparatively atmospheric, and finds tense, swelling noise colliding with muted synth plucks before launching into quaking drops punctuated by oscillating sub-bass.

“Mononofu” lands 26 November exclusively via Beatport and Spotify before hitting a full range of digital service providers a fortnight later on 2021.

'Its About To Get' closes out Black Magic. PHAGE shows their ability to mix genres, blending the noisy aspects of the EP's previous tracks with a techno flavour. Grinding percussion and dissonant sounds define 'Its About To Get', and the intensity is ramped up later on when a signal-jammed vocal sample enters the fray.
