Moonlight had only brushed the treetops when an underground bass tore through the moss like a giant’s breath. It was Paperfunk Recordings calling from a hidden crypt—The Crypt of Wilderness—where Bullaway had sealed away a primordial rhythm. The wanderer stepped into a ring of phosphorescent mushrooms; their caps clashed, neurofunk drums crackling with heat, sending shock-waves deep into the roots.

Beyond swirling blue mists a mirror-lake emerged. From its depths rose amplifier-mermaids; their glass tails shattered the reflection into a thousand light-pulses that made the air quiver. Their voices, refracted across the water’s skin, traded places with the rasp of broken percussion, every echo-ring pulling the traveller closer to the shore.

Among the reeds glimmered a shell-key. The instant the wanderer’s fingers closed on its cold spiral, the crypt split open like rolling thunder: stone walls began to breathe, and cascades of syncopation with juicy sub-hits flooded the night, as though Earth’s axis had decided to spin faster.

From that moment on, anyone who presses play on Bullaway’s release feels the same whirlwind: mushrooms lay a path with taut strikes, mermaids guide the melody over the water, and every heartbeat locks to the pulse of the Wildland. Take the first step—and the forest will open for those ready to listen.

In a landscape where concrete giants crumble faster than the sirens can fade, Nervorum transmits a digital distress signal called Shelter. Spanning eight movements, it unspools like a found footage diary of survival: the first thunderclap of drums yanks the listener awake beneath a blanket of dust, and the last sub-bass heartbeat drags a battered body across the threshold of an underground refuge.

Each piece is a freeze-frame in a single, urgent escape. Jagged breakbeats flicker like emergency strobes, fractured synths crackle with the static hum of radioactive fallout, and a coiling bass line exerts a gravitational pull toward safety. What begins as blind panic becomes deliberate momentum, as a weary pulse syncs with the mechanized rhythm of the ruins and transforms into an engine of resistance.

Shelter stands as a sonic chronicle of human tenacity—encoded, preserved, and released by Paperfunk Recordings at a moment when the concept of sanctuary feels more myth than memory. Within its eight digital chapters beats one unbroken message: even after the black rain, music remains a map, marking the single route out of the dark.

For the fourth year running, Disciples Of Distortion brings together a global roster of artists bound by their devotion to distortion, chaos, and raw power. More than just a release, this compilation is a ritual, a yearly gathering where the underground unites to unleash a torrent of basslines, precision drums, and twisted atmospheres.
Since 2020, Stonx Music has grown from a small label into a global community, pushing the boundaries of neurofunk and heavy drum & bass. Volume 4 continues this legacy, showcasing a carefully curated blend of rising talent and established names, all with one mission: to distort, disrupt, and destroy.

This year’s edition delivers 13 crushing tracks, with returning heavyweights and fresh faces contributing their most devastating work yet. From the chaotic ferocity of Anizo’s “Near Deaf”, to the mechanical grit of Direct Shift’s “Mutants”, the industrial savagery of FauxRealz, Noisesmith & Dark Adaptation’s “Horrid”, and the relentless energy of Wintour’s “Turbulence”, every track is crafted to test the limits of sound systems and stamina alike.
