Recorded at John’s last night at The Vagabond Nightclub in Downtown Miami during this year’s Miami Music Week, ‘LIVE IN MIAMI’ features 37 tracks and nearly 4 hours of the very best underground electronic music, spanning across more than two decades.  

Showcasing a wide selection of new and classic records ranging from as far back as 1992 (Secret Knowledge – Sugar Daddy) and 1993 (Nicole – A Small Entrance To A Large Spectrum and Laurent Garnier – Acid Eiffel) Digweed’s latest opus effortlessly takes us through a vast array of sounds, eras and genres from what was an incredibly special night back in March of this year.

 From some major reminiscent acid moments of the early 90s right through the years to the upfront house and techno soundscapes of present day, John Digweed blends tracks from some of the most notable producers into one seamless mix that truly captures the spontaneity and vibe of the crowd in one of the world’s coolest, most intimate and unorthodox clubbing destinations.

igh Tide Recordings launches with a rhythmic two­-track house release from Southampton’s Sleeperhold featuring a remix from 8bit and Lower East producer Junior Gee.

Real name Dan Reid, Sleeperhold is an established figure in the house music scene. As one of the minds behind the renowned High Tide boat parties, Reid has long been a purveyor of house music in the UK’s South Coast and has repeatedly shared the booth with acts such as Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Sasha and Digweed. As a producer Reid’s been making regular appearances on Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records, however he’s now turned his attention to running a label alongside Gary Bennetton, Steve Knight and Matt Conrad, with forthcoming releases planned from Bennetton not to mention under their collaborative High Tides pseudonym.

Featured on Carl Cox’s 27 CD with additional support from James Zabiela and Alan Fitzpatrick, ‘Out Ya Face’ meanders forward with shuffling percussion and stabbing synths as subtle notes and a distorted spoken word sample resonate on top. British producer Junior Gee’s remix then demonstrates a little less thud, stripping the production back whilst focusing on dusky atmospherics. Tying things together, ‘Vibe Hunter’ introduces crunchy snares, echoing effects and an infectious hook that continually evolves throughout.

The one to kick off our new imprint will be the Bulgarian hardware wizard KiNK. Best known for his live performances, teemed with explosive energy, which for a consecutive year puts him to the number one spot of live acts on RA Poll, he is also one of house’s most in demand producers. KiNK has worked with DGTL for quite some time, including last year’s audiovisual installation ‘Transmission Tower’, where the first track ‘Neutrino’ was born. 

The melodic 'Neutrino', kicks off with syncopating bassline. Its interconnecting layers organically jump over and under each other, reflecting the organic character of KiNK’s live performances, where every knob touch and turn matters. On the latter, he built the B-sider 'Dynamo': "I loaded my favourite element from Neutrino in my computer and I tweaked the sound through various weird devices in my studio, till it sounded like a completely new track." As usual, he added a few endless loops on the record, "for the adventurous DJs", exclusively for the 12''.

Ahhh we remember it well... The summer of 2009. Each and every year theres one record thats universally tagged as the 'Soundtrack of the Summer'. These, more often than not, party anthems have their seed steadily sown. From the producer to his close group of friends. A fizz of excitement. Then the lucky 'Tastemakers,' who play it each and every set. The buzz grows as the track soon takes hold of every dancefloor in every party destination. Whilst the timescale of this exciting air of mystery and suspense has shortened over the years, each year there will always be that one track that defines the summer party season. Some seasons debate may rage over the awarding of the title, but in 2009 there was never any question…

That summer saw the first release from Rejected's 'Dusty House' series as label chief Joris Voorn dropped 'Room 1', a two tracker that was set to not only become the biggest club release of the year, but one that also instigated a filtered house revival. Whilst 'Empty Trash" occupied the unenviable B Side and garnered great support, it was the lead cut "Sweep The Floor" that really stole the show and set the scene alight. The cheeky filtered stabbing number with its huge party-starting drops became the DJ's 'go to' record and even found itself soundtracking feature trailers on BBC Radio 1. 

With other artists commandeering the rooms of Rejected's Dusty House, including fellow label owner Edwin Oosterwal, its been a while since the label boss Voorn has been in residence. Now he's back and ready to drop his next brace of hits. "Spank The Maid" finds the Dutchman in a mischievous mood as he builds and drops with an organ riff and cut up vocal. On the flip Joris brings the 80's hollywood synths and rattling snares to create yet another essential club cut.

High Tide is a collective of great friends, seasoned promoters and we like to think accomplished DJs!  We have regularly performed alongside our peers including the likes of Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Groove Armada, Jamie Jones, Sasha, John Digweed, Joris Voorn, Hot Since 82, Steve Lawler, Skream, Annie Mac, Kolsch, Pete Tong and Dubfire to name but a few as well as locally based pals James Zabiela and Alan Fitzpatrick.  We’ve put on some cracking parties too, our most infamous being the High Tide Boat Parties from Southampton in the UK.

With an endearing love for electronic music and some positive traction from the producers within our ranks it has been a long time coming for High Tide Recordings.  We don’t give a flying f#*k about making money (lets hope we don’t lose too much though ☺), but if we get to release great underground dance music, educate ourselves in the process and have fun along the way we’ll be more than happy.
