Sound Installation 
Constantin Carstens: Perspektiven 
parabolic metal forms, horn speakers, sub chassis, surface transducer, rotary motor, nylon ropes

 The characteristic of the loudspeakers influence decisively the way the composition gets perceived. The parabolic speaker focusses sound to a narrow beam, allowing to position sound as well as their reflections in specific spots in the room. The sub chassis are numb to the sites and are just able to transduce sound to the front and back. Surface transducers are using objects as resonance bodies to transduce sound to air.

Over the course of 16 min, Perspektiven invites the visitors into an artificial and yet organic and vibrant sonic life world, containing calm soundscapes, impulsive noise sequences and silence. 
Apart from the sonic composition, the installation contains a spatial composition, sounds are dynamically moving and exploring their surroundings. Sonic narratives shifting between the rooms, disappearing in one and re-emerge again in another one. This connects the rooms to a coherent and more complex sonic life world but at the same time as an individual willing to grasp the narrative you have to change your own perspective dynamically.
Therefore „Perspektiven“ raises the question of the dynamic relationship between an individual and its surroundings. Your own behavior, engagement and positioning within the space is crucial to what you will perceive of the work and what not.
