Andy Toth casts a long shadow in the Detroit scene. From being co-founder of the Detroit Grand Pubahs to working as an engineer and mixer, he’s worked on so many records that you know but in his egoless way, didn’t know he was part of. Being the co-author of “Sandwiches” took him around the world, but more importantly it was the hold music for Mudgie’s, a legendary Detroit Deli run by another long standing denizen of the Detroit underground, Greg Mudge. Greg Mudge was a true pillar of our techno community in Detroit, from showing us the venue for the first leaky roof No Way Back, to throwing his own events and supporting great people. One of those people was Andy Toth, who he was constantly pressuring to release his music, and this became a major theme of Greg Mudge’s memorial.  When Greg suddenly passed last September, some friends came in to DJ his memorial like Derek Plaslaiko. When it was Andy Toth’s turn he played only his own productions and we were all just so blown away. Mudgie was always asking Andy “what’s up with those tracks?” And this record is the answer,  a testament to that thought, and to the deeply layered and detailed work of Andy Toth. Andy has created a uniquely dense Detroit Sci Fi trip through sound, with elements of acid, electro, techno that result in an advanced and mature adventure in sound, reflecting his roots in the Detroit scene, but pushing it into new hypnotic futures, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Danielle was always surrounded by music. Her mother, a music teacher, was just her first introduction to singing, guitar and piano at a young age.
Whether it was on her mother’s keyboards or playing bass in the school band, Dani realized that music was her passion very early.
Since moving to Berlin in 2015 to pursue her love for music, Danielle quickly realized her own studio in the south Berlin Artist Hub “The Greenhouse” where she has spent the last years developing her music studio and label - Tooflez Muzik.
Danielle has had a string of successful releases on renowned labels such as Plastik People (US), Keno Records (DE), Raiders Records (DE), and many more, not to mention on her own imprint Tooflez Muzik where she also self-released her first Vinyl EP in 2019, plus more music from several different projects and aliases, such as “Tooflez All Starz” and
“ANDI A”.
Over the years Danielle has been carefully practicing the craft. A strong attention to the roots of dance music and a DIY approach makes Danielle’s productions and performances infectiously familiar, yet raw and unapologetic at the same time.

We zoom in on the local Amsterdam scene this week and welcome DJ Merlín to the series. He is the programmer of the lauded local unit Kraft und Licht. Whether it's deep in the Amsterdam forest or in the hull of an old freight ship, they bring together the right ingredient of audience and artists that include Byron Yeates, D. Tiffany, our friend Aleksa Alaska, Sansibar, and many others. He boasts a major in composition and sounds design from the Arts Academy in Utrecht and regularly blesses the K&L line-ups with his edgy and silky smooth selections. With over ten years of experience as a DJ and a string of quality releases on Dubiks and Kraft und Licht Records, he knows how to bring magic to the dancefloor. We are excited to hear his upcoming releases in 2023 as he is one to keep an eye on. Lock in for an hour-long selection with some of his own upcoming music sprinkled in.

We're back with a fresh Mechatronicast from no other than our homie @margasxoxo. Fresh blood to the scene, Margas has quickly risen to resident DJ at Dom Technika in Poznan, only two years after his first real encounter with electronic music in that very same club.

His natural drive for vinyl digging fuels the constant evolution of his selection which goes beyond genre and style limitations. A true versatile DJ, he explores contrasting soundscapes through crafting his sets around atmospheric pads, massive basslines and deconstructed rhythms, keeping it all skillfully in the groove.

His passion for music is not confined to DJing only. Next to his Dom Technika residency, Margas co-runs szlag, a project hosting inspiring figures in the scene, sharing insights and music through a variety of events and radioshows.

For this Mechatronicast we have a live recording of his set for his birthday bash at Dom Technika back in December. It's a powerful two hour ride full of explosive surprises. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Margas cause you're going to see a lot more of him real soon.

Our Mechatronica residents will be traveling to Poznan this weekend to celebrate Dom Technika's three year anniversary with Robodrum, Margas, Loco Motive & Impakt.
