Jackie Lynton’s Happy Days Band started in ’76 when an ex-Savoy Brown and Diesel vocalist got together with former members of The Stormsville Shakers. Later known as The Jackie Lynton H.D. they appeared, in ’78, on the “Who Invited Them?” Guildford artist compilation [TR001] on the Thumb Records label with this track: “Woking”, and “The World's A Wheelbarrow”. Vis the Spoon is a performance poet. he does other stuff too but that's not relevant here. he used to be the compere in residence for the monthly Snakebite City gigs in Kentish Town & Kings Cross, but organised from Aldershot in Hampshire, in the late 90s.  When he decided to do an album of his poetry (back in 2001 or therabouts) he asked all the bands he'd introduced at those gigs to supply instrumental backing for the poems, but only Twister & JC Regulator obliged, forcing Vis & his co-producer Flavius da Vinci (working together as Gusset) to sample all the instrumental sections they could find on Snakebite City CDs and blend them seamlessly into backing tracks to maintain the theme of the project. And here it is.

Please note it is not recorded "live". Barry and Cody are 2 fictional (as far as we're aware) characters whose home happens to be Leeds. They live there. Vis the Spoon has never performed in Leeds. I hope we've got that straight cos it's been misinterpreted for almost 20 years now. It was the result of a misheard conversation between Vis & head of Bluefire Records (aka Snakebite City supremo) Paul Talling.
