Jubilation is the name of a long gone nightclub in the south suburbs outside Chicago that gave teenage partygoers their first taste of the '90s ghetto house tracks that would soon morph into juke and footwork. So its more than appropriate that Flosstradamus take that title for their brand new EP, where the Chi-town DJ duo of J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci) use the hyperactive drums and booming sub bass sonics of juke as a jumping off point for new school dancefloor sounds of their very own. 

Led by the Kid Sister collab "Luuk Out Gurl" (which Chicago Reader praises for "somehow bending footwork's freakier elements to the rules of a radio-friendly pop song") and the XXX-rated Danny Brown collab "From The Back," Jubilation is a true showcase for Flosstradamus' club-honed studio skills. It's also a testament to their willingness to experiment; "Lyke My Style" and "Ov3r" drag those same rap vocals into funhouse mirror territory, chopping and screwing them atop unexpectedly moody synth lines and an ever-present 808 kick. Take a trip back to the future with Josh and Curt...your kids are gonna love it.

This month marks the passing of the lauded rapper Notorious B.I.G. and to honor his legacy, New York resident DJ Finesse debuted a special tribute during DJ Premier's Sirius/XM show "Live From Headqcourterz" on March 8.

The mix showcases Biggie's a capellas paired with Premier-produced beats. While the original tribute was shorter for air-time, Finesse extends the tribute for hip-hop fans here with a special intro by Premier himself.

DJ Premier's "Live From Headqcourterz" airs every Friday night from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sirius/XM Channel 44, Hip Hop Nation. DJ Finesse is a regular guest on the show, filling in for Premier as an on-air mixer.
