As a collective of producers, musicians and vocalists we explore new fusions of world music with sound system culture. Producing intelligent and organic dance music that is enriching for both the body and soul. 

The title track "Music For Your Mind" fuses funky East African grooves with a classic drum & bass beat and features the legendary D&B MC Spyda as well as Ghanaian powerhouse K.O.G & Jamaican rapper Franz Von. 

Love Goes Where Love is a euphoric fusion of jungle music with soukous inspired guitar and is accompanied by beautiful vocal messages from both K.O.G & Fran Von. 

Into the Jungle is our tribute to the legendary Francis Bebey and is a psychedelic junglist's journey into the heart the jungle itself! We call this new sub genre... 'liquid-afro-jungle' !!!

Gnawa ambassador S.I.M.O (Simo Lagnawi of Electric Jalaba) joins UK collective Hippo Sound System and producer Count Bassy to bring you a unique fusion of North African and Gnawa inspired blues with Global Bass! This is a psychedelic journey into the desert where ancestral rhythms and traditional Gnawa instruments (such as the Gimbri and Krakebs) meet the thriving global bass culture, topped off with a powerful message of peace and unity from S.I.M.O who sings in both Moroccan Arabic and English. 
3 versions of the same song have been released: original mix, 110bpm mix, unplugged.
"Tiniri" is part of the forthcoming Hippo Sound System debut album, released 2023 on Galletas Calientes Records.

After a busy festival season and a huge number of UK gigs, Bristol-based multicultural, hyperactive collective Hippo Sound System, led by notorious samba junglist https://soundcloud.com/hiphoppapotamus is ready to drop the second single from their debut album “Origins”.

On “La Selva”, an audible exploration of the jungle and its mysteries, they’re joined by live group https://soundcloud.com/magnuspenya and the enchanting vocals from singer Lilli Elina, who add their psychedelic synth swells, electronic hits and and atmospheric percussion, all fused with a downtempo groove and deep bass.

Ghanaian vocalist K.O.G and producer/guitarist Tom Excell (of Nubiyan Twist) join UK-based Hippo Sound System on this afro-infused house track. Deep and dreamy synth/guitar layers encompass the ancestral rhythms and create the perfect atmosphere for K.O.G's emotive lyrics. The song's hook, in the language of the Ga tribe, means to take time over caring for one's self, to heal, and to be grounded whilst navigating the traumas of life.
