CHAIRNOGOODFORBACK consists of Frederik Hauch and Rasmus Christian Pedersen. They produce pounding industrial-tinged techno and electro that sounds like drippin’ basement raves and the dark months of the Scandinavian winter.

The duo is back with their latest single ‘Let Music Always Round Me’. A tune that flourished in a jam session in an early morning. The duo started playing with the legendary Acetone Rhythm Ace drum machine and then began jamming with the bass and synthesisers.

The song text is inspired by, maybe even a remix of, poet Walt Whitman’s work. Randomly flicking through the pages and picking out one-liners that reflected something in the duo.

CHAIRNOGOODFORBACK - Let Music Always Round Me (Full EP) - s0658

Side A features Protest Song. If music is a way of transporting us to other places, Protest Song takes us to a desolate, scary and loveless environment, a burnt- down, burnt-out place where the flesh of its former inhabitants is smouldering, void of goodwill and kindness in a cloud of toxic and greedy smoke. It’s all Kafka and Orwell and Suffering - the most twisted and eerie track so far in The Golden Ravedays saga. What is undeniably clear is an acute sense of regret and loss - a warning that it could have been avoided, had we only listened to our hearts and protested.

In the same vein on Side B we hear powerful Resistance. Produced after the Paris attacks of 2015 Superpitcher outdid himself with this strong message of Resistance. Where Protest Song paints a picture of under-worldly doom, Resistance’s techno beat and insistent refrain sweeps us to the surface of the muck of hatred and intolerance we’ve politically been dumped in. A voice that seems like a trapped animal is calling out to us. What is it trying to say? Is it crying out for help? Is that animal all of us? Resistance represents hope and encouragement and could be the perfect marching track to any demonstration against negative forces. Much needed in this age of bigotry where it seems like time has leaped backwards to a darker side of history. As for the
dancefloor – Resistance is irresistible!

The Golden Ravedays

Superpitcher - Protest Song

The fourth chapter of The Golden Ravedays saga will be released on Hippie Dance in April 2017. Number 4 of the series introduces two further tracks of the sound adventure that Superpitcher is taking us on this year. Side A features Blood and Berry. It is a captivating track that reminds one of the very first years when Superpitcher made music under the alias Sir Positive. The beat is broken and the going is slow and rolling and the listening is a warm bath. There are flutes there that one never wants to stop and they almost don’t. However essentially sweet this track is, like a berry on the tongue, it might lead to some blood on the dance floor!

Listening to Side B of this Golden Ravedays edition is entering a ghost town, alone, under a full moon. Howl is a confluence of melodies and rhythms from Africa to Arabia where the snakes are being charmed out of their baskets and it is downright creepy. A spooky voice is saying something but we don’t know what exactly and it is bothersome because deep down we know that tonight when we are alone in the dark, we should be ready with the answer – or else. All we can do is wonder: Did Superpitcher sell his soul to the vampires for the vocals he let lose in this track? He answers by howling at the full moon behind thorn trees, in the shadows. Entertaining, thoughtful and brave! We salute the wolves and their master. Hooo-oooowl!

The 10th edition of The Golden Ravedays album will be released on Hippie Dance in October 2017. The album unveils two tracks that are distinctly different in zeal but both transmitting spooky and thrilling male voices adding a sense of humorous horror. These two tracks are testament of Superpitcher’s ability to skillfully merge depth and playfulness.

Side A is Rock N Roll Baby. Could it be that someone with a curious but naïve mind had the courage to ask the scariest man in the club, no the world, about the origin of music? The answer rides on a tribal beat, escalates to Armageddon-like heights and an eerie voice repeatedly assures us that it’s all Rock N Roll Baby.

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher’s third full-length studio album, The Golden Ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus- years, emotionally. And full-length it is: The Golden Ravedays is an epic album of 24 longer than usual tracks that was released in January 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period.

The 11th edition of The Golden Ravedays album will be released on Hippie Dance in November 2017. Side A brings Brothers. With two decades of spinning experience in disco’s, nightclubs, festival arenas, shady after-party zones and intimate studio soirees there is no doubt that Superpitcher is seasoned in throwing a damn good party. Brothers is party personified and a celebration of the night and the wise owls that respect its magical rituals. Its ultra-chic disco groove and dreamy female vocals transport one to a carnival of blessings.

Side B features Sleepy Head, a hypnotic lullaby carefully tucked away in a hammock that rocks to and fro like dozing mermaids in a wavy curtain of seaweed. Sleepy Head is a smart artistic statement and whimsical pause just before the release of the grand finale of the The Golden Ravedays saga.

Wit Bad is the result of a beautiful collaborative project that started with illustrator Joost Stokhof. He was asked as an artist in residence for Amsterdam’s Hortus Botanicus, a place where Joost locked himself up for a week alongside the finest biodiversity in the city. Joost asked Eefje de visser to join him for a day and Eefje asked Nuno dos Santos to form a powerful trinity of which Wit Blad is the unmistakable evidence.

The original version was released in April of 2018 and we finally have a vinyl (only) version to go along with it. On the A side we find an 808 version, which is an extended version by Nuno of the ‘Wit Blad’ original. Zooming in on the drums and bass line while leaving even more space for Eefjes haunting voice. Eefje is one of Holland’s best kept music secrets, her voice is soothing and her presence like a siren song seducing you in. Immersing the music with field recordings, you can hear the birds and surroundings the piece was recorded and even some whispering voices that only add to the atmosphere.
Flipping to the other side we find our dear friend Mattheis remixing Wit Blad in a strong hypnotic vibe. Containing Mattheis’ trademark synth swirls, it’s as soothing as it is driving with spine tingling harmonics slowly creeping in and out.

This all comes packaged in a silkscreen printed cover containing the illustrations that Joost Stokhof made during their time together. The vinyl also includes a small poster including extra images by Joost and the lyrics of Wit Blad. Adding up to a beautiful feast for both the eyes and ears.

After shooting out his introspective album NACHT, AFN-Head Johannes @klingebiel goes for something completely different with his first full solo EP for his label. The title track "It's such a beautiful day" and "Dream" follow roughly the patches of that genre labeled "Lo-Fi-House" without simply imitating them. On the flipside you'll get Johannes' trademark melodic melancholic house vibes with slow-burner "Here + There" and cosmic beast "Under The Hood". Four tracks ready for a festival summer that wasn't meant to be. But maybe we can still enjoy this very beautiful day together.
