"The sun of a mediterranean April began to warm my sad and disheartened soul from a period psychologically long and heavy to endure. A long period that has severely tested the peoples of an entire planet. I knew that to get out of it I would have to feed my spirit with music. But I was looking for a different kind of music, far from everything I had created so far. The desire to create something syncretic, transversal, highly energetic and spiritual, rich, ancestral and melodic, grew in me. I took a cue from this global situation to think about our destiny, about our sense of belonging to this place and this time. So I looked for a sound that was stripped of any categorization. A sound capable to elude any scheme by borrowing instruments, sounds, melodies from all over the world and blending them together. Whether it was a japanese taiko, a blues or latin melody played on the guitar, a duduk (and, why not, a panflute) or the voice of an opera singer no longer mattered. These elements so distant and different from each other had to dialogue together. I asked my best friend, Ueps, to accompany me with his guitar: I needed his company to face this sonic journey. "Starting this new cycle of releases on Not Another, we are glad to have one of our favorite artists on board again.

His production style is a mix of a wide variety of influences and we never know what to expect. For his first solo EP with us, he delivered a 3 track masterpiece that goes from deep melodic to psychedelic minimal techno which are quite hard to put on any specific genre. 
For the remix duties we invited two of the industry finests. Petar Dundov (Cocoon, Systematic) delivered a melodic anthem interpretation for Bebe that has all the credentials to be a banger during this season and will please all our followers. The second remix comes from Stelios Vassiloudis (Bedrock, Poker Flat) which stripped down 'Elephant in the Room' for a hypnotic clubby piece that goes heavy on your body.

All these 5 tracks are different in style and genres but they all have that artistry feeling that we seek for Not Another. Hope you enjoy as much as we do."

AEON, the ever evolving imprint from Alex Niggemann, continues to push musical boundaries with its second release of 2019 from the Belgium-born, Berlin-based Joris Biesmans.

Nie Te Doen has an element of inquisitivity to it. A bumpy Indie Dance number with a broken beat. It builds steadily as the energy within it rises. Biemans explains that the track was born ​“after playing some open air festivals in the summertime. For me this track has a very specific and positive energy”. The aptly named lead track ​A Long Road with its upbeat bounce, melodic synths and mesmerising breakdown, first came to be fourteen years ago. ​Mushroom Cloud ​takes the EP down a darker path. It’s grittier than the preceding tracks. Building with fire into a forceful beat, it charges ahead. Of the track Joris says ​“it’s a bit less happy. Throughout the track you have the feeling you that you have walked through a dark place”​. The EP closes with ​Piramides. I​ t’s dreamy with an air of euphoria, ambient with a glimmer of hope - the calm after the storm. ​“The name ‘Piramides’ is derived from the fact that the core idea is built around pyramid shaped arpeggios.”

Joris Biesmans’ ​skills as a producer and DJ have seen him showcase his sounds worldwide, taking in Thailand, Tokyo, Glasgow and Lisbon amongst others. Biesmans’ love for analogue saw him set up his own label, TVe Recordings in 2016 with the aim to provide “an escape from the overload of digital culture”. The label has seen him work with notable names including Man Power, Aera and Lord Of The Isles. In 2017 he signed to John Digweed’s hugely influential Bedrock imprint and 2018’s vinyl-only release on Rhythm Cult shot to the number one spot in the German Techno charts. In 2019, Biesmans shows no signs of slowing down​. He recently released on Jennifer Cardini’s highly regarded ​Correspondant label with another release imminent as well as providing music for ​Rebirth, Future Disco and 17 Steps.
