Hypnotic vocal elements too. Quite enjoyable. (And total side note... whenever I see 'grist for the mill' it always makes me think of Ram Dass. That was one of his favorite analogies). :)

Hildegard von Bingen is the artist.  I HIGHLY urge each and everyone to check out this remarkable human being.  Her music is of the Spheres and her artwork is mind-blowing.  Her teachings and philosophies are astounding for the 12th Century.  That she survived the Church -and was named a saint, to boot- is a miracle in and of itself.

It was my favorite and first app that I used when returning to music after a 14 year break from Blink Twice. (abandoning hardware and selling my gear)

Alchemy only had a 4 track sequencer, but I made the most of it. This particular piece uses 2 tracks for synths, 1 track for percussion, and 1 track with the voice sample. What Alchemy excelled in was it's incredible synth engine and ability to morph sounds in realtime with it's x-y axis screen control. I fully went all out with this feature on this track, resulting in a similar effect to knob twisting on modular synths.

I greatly miss this app, but Apple bought out Camel, and as a result they did not update this app. They instead included an extremely watered down version of the Alchemy synth engine in their Garageband app.

The Music of Sound...really!!  It's all grist for the mill.  I visualize Sound/Music as colors, shapes and forms rather than notes in a scale.  I look upon each of these pieces as individual environments and/or sculptures in which to spend some time, looking round, feeling the curves, hanging out, exploring... Each composition is based on different elements, structures and rules or lack thereof.  Consequently, each is unique unto itself.  

Blissfully free of genre, everything is fair game:  beats; melodies; disquiet; washes; pulses; broken clichés and memes; subliminals; words and voices; chaos; sonorities; field recordings; indeterminacy; world music; the holy; the gutter; otherworld music; drones; synths; samples, etc. etc.  etc.  

I enjoy entering into the mitochondria of what makes a sound  that particular sound and then genetically change it into something entirely different than what it was - with just the essence lingering.  I also like to explore the "in-betweens" - spaces between beats, frequencies, timbres, spaces, tones, etc. In large part, simply, I'm curious to explore it all.  Suffice it to say, the wider your aperture the more you will hear and experience.  Et voila!

Oh!  Headphones will likely provide a more fulsome listening experience for many of the pieces.
