Haven't posted anything in a minute, so thought about sharing this mix i made a while back from with music mainly from early 2000 days, which probably had the biggest musical influence on me. Been going through a phase lately where i'm mostly just rediscovering old music more than anything else. It's really interesting to keep seeing how cyclical music really is, most of the music in this mix sounds very relevant to the stuff being made these days. This really wasn't the case a few years ago, at the time one could of argued that this music sounds completely dated. Anyway, give it a listen <3

Hisham Zahran - 2000s Mix

The last time we played Kings Hall at Brooklyn Mirage was our second gig ever as Leaving Laurel, in October of 2021. It feels like a really long time ago. Emotions & nerves were high.. everything felt very new to the two of us. We didn't quite know what DJing as Leaving Laurel together would sound like at the time but we were having fun figuring it out. 

Fast forward almost 2 years later, to this past Friday & it felt like our set in Brooklyn had become all of those experiences together compressed into one moment. We felt calm & proud, knowing Pierce was right there smiling.

Even though I also do very much enjoy these moments drowning in nostalgia sometimes letting those emotions and memories from the past come up again in watery eyes, most of the time I’m focussing on the future as music & a career needs to constantly evolve in my opinion … and to stay constantly excited for what I am doing for so many years of course.

That’s why my answer to the ongoing requests for a classics set has been always a big NO as I saw it more as a sign for being stuck - which I am not.

Anjunadeep Explorations is definitely something else … so I gave it a try at Yacht Club this summer returning to NuStyle on that crazy monday night - and it turned out to be a blast into the past.

‘Lone Surfer EP’ marks Swedish producer Hosini’s fourth standalone release with Anjunadeep. After making his label debut in 2017, his tracks ‘Syna’, ‘8 Hours Still No Rain’, and ‘Froozen / Balloons’ have featured in four consecutive label compilations; Anjunadeep 09, 10, 11 and 12, and accumulated over 14 million streams to date.

Now, Hosini offers four new tracks on his ‘Lone Surfer EP ’ that are soothing and atmospheric in nature, combining warm chordal elements with bass lines full of groove, and rich, organic percussion.

A versatile producer, Hosini has recently released his cinematic EP ‘Beyond The Fog’ on Anjunadeep’s own ambient and downtempo imprint ‘Reflections’, and has been supported by names such as Parra for Cuva, Nils Hoffmann, Eelke Kleijn and BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong.

‘Lone Surfer EP’ is out on August 29 via Anjunadeep.
