DMX Krew returns to Gudu Records with ‘Return to Jupiter’, his second EP for the label and the first release of a 2023 that will be the label’s busiest yet.

Ed DMX made his debut for Gudu with 2019’s ‘Don’t You Wanna Play?’ EP, becoming the first artist to release on the label outside Peggy herself. Ed and Gudu have retained a regular working relationship ever since: he mastered Indonesian crate-digger Dea’s ‘Glazer Drum’ release for Gudu, contributed a pair of remixes to the reissue of Riff’s South African electro curio ‘Jacks Jive’, and now returns to the label with ‘Return to Jupiter’, a new original four-track EP.

Ed has been one of electronic music’s most respected faces for over 25 years. Debuting in the mid-1990s, he released his first decade of music almost exclusively through Grant Wilson-Claridge and Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label and his own Breakin’ imprint, but recent years have seen him ply his trade across a who’s who of dance music’s most acclaimed underground labels: including Hypercolour, Balkan Vinyl, Central Processing Unit and, of course, Gudu.

Inspired by the futurist funk and vivid synthesiser epics of classic Detroit, ‘Return to Jupiter’ is dripping with richness and colour, driven by the sort of thick analogue basslines and distinctive melodies that have come to define Ed’s catalogue. The EP’s title track sets the tone for what’s to follow, introducing a language of sorts for the record - before ‘Altered Chords’ turns the funk up to 11, ‘U Ain’t Down’ aims its distorted kicks and wiggy, manipulated lead straight at peak time dancefloors, and ‘I Love Juan’ closes the EP on a star-gazing tip.

Hiver have worked damn hard. For many years they have cut their teeth building relationships and working tirelessly on music in their native Italy. They have become a core representation of a developing musical ethos in the country, one which is seeking to challenge the preconceptions of Italy’s previous club culture with an array of new festivals and clubs pushing things forward across the country.

Since 2012 the pair have released a steady string of records forming close relationships with the likes of Curle, Fides and Vidab who have offered a consistent outlet for them to develop as artists and establish the type of music that they really want to make.

More recently they have began to receive the acclaim and attention that they deserve – playing a broader array of shows outside of Italy in Ibiza, Amsterdam and Berlin. However, it is still very much Italy that they call home.

This summer will see them return to play a special show at two respective editions of Polifonic Festival, one in Milan and another in Puglia. It is a festival with which they hold a strong affiliation having also released music via the imprint.

Polifonic is a festival which somewhat sits in tandem to the growth of Hiver, having also evolved over many years to create its own niche with Italian and European electronic music culture.

This mixtape is a whirlwind introduction the the music of Hiver but we expect you’ll be seeing a lot more of them soon following their most recent release which emerged on Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records.

As said by the so missed Juno Plus: “The middle ground between US and European electronic music is where the work of Hiver exists”. Echoing hypnotic melodies and haunting rhythms have given form to Hiver's sound. 
They've been defining their aesthetic path, driven by melodic and distant elements slowly evolving in a mould of linear rhythms. Their debut Ep “A Day”, on Vidab Records has been followed by the highly acclaimed “Blue Aconite” Ep, released via Curle Recordings and including a Tobias remix.  
Thanks to this release, Hiver’s name started to be reckon worldwide. Clubs and festival promoters has soon started taking note of their works, as testified by their shows at Panoramabar, Dimensions Festival, Polifonic, ADE, Oval Space,Tresor and tours in Asia, US, South America. 

Based in Milan, they have been playing at the infamous Dude Club as resident and in the meantime, other labels and producers started approaching Hiver with collaboration offers. 
Since then they have issued several releases on the likes of  Curle, Luke Hess’s Deeplabs, Kann, Appian Sounds, Fides, LET Amsterdami and Taped Artifact. In 2019 Peggy Gou featured an Hiver’s track for her compilation on !K7. In 2021 the duo makes a comeback with releases on Polifonic's new label and Sungate Records.
2022 "Wave Sliding" EP on Peggy Gou's GUDU label, a record that both marks and celebrates Hiver’s 10 years of operation.

They are know to be able to deliver an uptempo techno set to an eclectic mellow-vibe.
