Based in Paris, France, Alexis Talneau aka Aleqs Notal is a French DJ and producer. Born in the 80’s in the Paris suburbs, this underground music enthusiast could already be found behind the decks in the mid- 2000’s. The variety of formats through which he transmits music is dominated by a predilection for vinyl records which he collects from an early age. Notal belongs to a generation of artists building on nearly 2 decades of experience in their feld.  
Combining infuences from Detroit and Chicago, the sound that defines him reflects his early and endless fascination for the sharpest percussions. The always widening range of inspirations he puts forward, bears witness to the musical exploration he has been passionately leading over the years. From the most soulful House anthems to the deep Techno rhythms, the possibilities are endless.   

Coming from the Hip-Hop scene, he's no stranger to live performances. In early 2000's, after winning a few scratching DJ competitions (DMC, Red Bull...),  he makes a world tour for a few years with a French Hip-Hop group. While traveling, he began to dig underground House and Techno records and gain a foothold in the electronic music scene.

More than ten years after he started live shows, 2014 saw the release of his first extended project as Aleqs Notal, composer and music producer on ClekClekBoom Recordings. 
Bringing a raw yet lunar House sound with a seizing analogic feeling, he expresses that hybrid identity through involvements in the Paris Club Music compilations. After releasing the deep and powerful EP on Michael Zucker label Finale Sessions from Orlando in 2016, 2017 saw Aleqs Notal’s affirmation on the international scene with 
“Ascending Nodes”, on Patrice Scott label from Detroit, Sistrum Recordings.
In 2018 he went to Lagos in Nigeria, playing at the Fela Kuti's New Afrika Shrine and making an EP with Nigerian percussionist Wura Samba called The "Paris-Lagos Soundscapes" out on Phonogramme Recordings. 


Notal has been carrying out his activity of DJ sharing the stage with some of the most renowned DJs and producers like Larry Heard, Moodymann, Patrice Scott, Mike Huckaby, Paul Johnson, Honey Dijon, Rich Medina, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Gregory, DJ Jus-Ed, Mike Servito, Jenifa Mayenja, Aybee, Shanti Celeste, Kyle Hall, DJ Fett Burger and more...  
He gained a great visibility on Paris scene thanks to recurring shows at renowned clubs like Concrete, La Machine or Rex Club. The word is also spreading worldwide with frequent shows on Rinse France and playing at venues like Panorama Bar, Tresor, Fabric London, Contra, Cakeshop, Pistil in Seoul, B1 Taipei in Taiwan... 
 

Now Aleqs Notal regularly releases his music on international labels like Sistrum Recordings, Phonogramme, Visions, Release Sustain, and more... He continues to share his vibes and energies in frequent gigs and radio shows.   
In 2020 he launch his own label, Industrial Light (I.L. Recordings).

Hizou Podcast 16 # Reedale Rise

Keepin' the legacy; it could be our motto here at Hizou and it is certainly what we humbly try to achieve with all of our music. Which makes it the perfect title for this our fifth release, a various artists affair featuring four producers from two continents with one aim: quality house music inspired by the classic sounds we love from Chicago, Detroit and New York.

Hizou debutant James Duncan has a pedigree to envy being not only an in-demand trumpet player for the likes of Metro Area and DFA, but also an acclaimed producer for Dance Tracks and Real Soon amongst others and owner of his own superb label, Le Systeme. Although originally from Toronto, it is Duncan's adoptive home of New York that looms large over Track A. Old-school Big Apple house and garage flavours percolate what is an already irresistible groove.

Enigmatic producer G Marcell also makes his first appearance for us with the achingly groovy Peace Awaited. And the Chicago-based artist -- who has worked alongside the likes of Aesthetic Audio's Keith Worthy -- makes an instant impact as this beautifully measured cut is infectious, emotive and ass-shaking in equal parts.

Detroit old-school legend Gari Romalis returns to the fold after his recent solo debut for Hizou with the mighty The No Beat Left Behind EP. Here with the equally-impressive We Here he does what he does best; no nonsense, chunky, floor-throbbing house music of the highest order.

Mellowing the mood a touch, label owner Satore makes a welcome homecoming with a track that is arguably his most accomplished, contemplative and mature to date. Tribute To The Roots (Extended Mix) is a downtempo delight drenched in soul, bathed in melancholy and is quite simply the perfect close to the EP.

Chez Damier has devoted his life to electronic music as a vocalist, DJ, producer, label manager and graphic artist. Splitting his time between Detroit, Chicago and occasionally New York, Chez set up the Music Institute with Derrick May and Alton Miller looked after the business affairs and studio output of Kevin Saunderson's KMS label, and helped countless producers get a start in production. On top of that, he has a kick ass discography of his own, his work with Ron Trent on Prescription coming to near define an era in club music - Chez' is truly one of the greatest story never told in house music.

Kazuki Yamaguchi a.k.a. Kez YM is a a Berlin DJ and producer originally hailing from Japan, he brings true school funk, soul, disco and Detroit beatdown inspirations to his productions. Building an impeccable discography since his debut EP, he has put out original work and remixes on respected labels like Yore, Deep Explorer, Faces, and City Fly. His debut LP 'Cross Section', released on Faces Records in February 2019, shows that he can push his signature sound to uncharted territory.

José Manuel Alvarez, also known as Dubbyman, made his debut as a DJ in 1992, hidden under the name of José Vertice. Acid house, funk, drum and bass and hip hop were just some of the ingredients of his firsts sets, backed up by his collective Dogs Connected.
Latter incursions into dubbed house and electrofunk sounds took him to visit most important clubs in Madrid like Deep and Danzoo, while maintaining his own club, Freak. By 2002, and thanks to his new facet as a producer he became Dubbyman, moves his residency from Freak to Café Bar Las Descalzas and expands his sessions across Madrid, in clubs like Morpheus, Ohm, Taboo, and outside, in places like Sonar 2006, La Macarena (Barcelona), House Café Music (La Coruña), Le Club (Valencia), El Sol (Salamanca) or Telefunken (La Coruña).
Nowadays he and his brother directs the Deep Explorer music label where their productions are released along with other Spanish artists like Robert Calvin (Turbo records), Loudest (Odori, D-Press), Gauss Control (Undress music), Tempostop (Aeróbic studio), and other international artists like Rob Paine (Worship/Philadelphia). He keeps Djing at Sybaris, where he shows his best selection of the latest funk, soul and Nujazz sounds.

Mark E
Born in Wolverhamption, Mark E has led a slow but steady upward career that has led him to become one of the most respected DJs and producers on the British Isles house scene.

Mark E's idyll with electronic dance music began in his late teens, when Madchester-era Manchester and the irreverent attitude of early '90s raves took the British scene by storm. His first album was nothing less than Bizarre Inc.'s Playing With Knives, which gave him an introduction to the wonderful world of house music. As the years passed, Mark left behind Wolverhampton (a city where he enjoyed a good scene, he was even able to hear legends like John Kelly or Frankie Knuckles) and young Birmingham for his university studies. It is there that he came into contact with an even bigger club scene and where they currently reside.

Mark E's first steps in production were edits of classic songs to which he applied a soft tempo (between 105 and 115 BPM). One of them, titled Scared, and which included Baby, Im Scared Of You by Womack & Womack, reached the ears of Gilles Peterson who opened the microphones of his BBC program to play it. Since then he created his own label, Merc Music, and started to produce his own songs. His remix of Matthew Dear's Little People (Black City) joins the Ghostly International / Spectral Sound family, where he publishes his first album: Stone Breaker (2011).

Born in 1980 in Metro Detroit and subject to the city's mid-90's warehouse parties, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement.  His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood.

Luke's faith based music production landed him a seat with Omar S' FXHE label & Carl Craig's Planet-e label in Detroit.  Hess has celebrated original productions and remix material on labels such as DeepLabs, FXHE, Planet-e, Dolly, Motech, Rekids, Echocord, Kontra-Music, Modelisme, Ornaments, Echocord Colour, & more.  In 2009, Luke released his first album, "Light in the Dark" on Denmark-based record label, Echocord.  "Light in the Dark" received glowing reviews and was hailed by many as one of the best deep techno albums of the year.  His second artist album "Keep On" was release on CD in 2012 and on 2x12" vinyl in 2013 and received a superb score of 4.5/5 & recommended review on Resident Advisor.

With over 15 years of DJ experience and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage.  Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner.

Keep on keeping on, that’s what they say. We are here at Hizou. So we are delighted to be back with this the ninth release on our main label, another exciting various artists affair and a follow-up to the well-received limited edition EP, Keepin’ The Legacy.
First up is the house music equivalent of a heavyweight tag-team in the shape of respected veterans Chez Damier and Abacus, producers with credentials so impressive and lengthy it’s eye-watering, alongside the rising talent that is Jorge Caiado (Balance/Groovement). The trio’s dub mix of their cut Close is proper deep-down-and-dirty bumpin’ house of the old-school kind.
Another man with an impeccable pedigree, in-demand musician and producer James Duncan (Le Systeme/Real Soon), makes a welcome return to the label with the hypnotic 416 Zone Dub, an irresistible groover aimed squarely at the more discerning dance floor.
Making his debut here at Hizou is yet another seasoned artist, Jacksonville, owner of Doppler Records and gun-for-hire with the likes of Atmospheric Existence and Inner Shift. Having eyed his chugging and infectious Twilight Industries from afar, we are delighted to finally nail it onto our vinyl.
Keeping the fire burning and more than holding his own in such fine company is label head Satore, who unleashes his inner disco diva with the groovy, soul- drenched Keep On.

HZO9 # Keepin' the Legacy Vol. 2

Hizou Music is delighted to welcome into the family the much-talented and vastly-experienced US producer and DJ Aakmael with our second vinyl release, the superb Sour Alien EP. Having been born into a musical family and surrounded by music all his life, Aakmael is one of the true deep house heads having been DJing since he was 16 and chalking up a 20-year stint on US radio. He also has a string of very fine releases to his name on labels such as the highly-respected Uzuri and his own excellent imprint UnXpozd. For Sour Alien the man stays true to his deep roots. Opening track House Music featuring the vocal talents of Esq is a marvellous percussion-driven homage to the music we love that will keep any dance-floor moving. Following on from the opener is Empty, a cut that takes the tempo down a little but keeps the standard just as high with melancholic chords that touch the soul. Dubb, meanwhile, opens up the B-side with a much chunkier groove that gets right into your head, while completing the EP in fitting style on a more down-tempo note is the beautiful and soulful Depth.

Every release is special for us here at Hizou. But to clock up our tenth one is a particularly special moment. So it is even more pleasing that we reach this milestone by welcoming on board a producer we admire enormously, Life Recorder. The man from Marseille has a lengthy discography of must-have records to his name already and the super-deep Pressure Jazz EP will only add to that growing list as he delivers a trio of prime cuts, from the punchy, raw analogue sounds of the title track to the warming Subconcious Drive and the melodic, acid-flecked Traffic Jam.

Andrés almost doesn’t need an introduction. But we’re gonna give him one anyway. Mentioned in the same reverential tones as such illustrious names as Hanna (aka Warren Harris), Marcellus Pittman, Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and, of course, Kenny Dixon Jr. (aka Moodymann), all collaborators, colleagues and compadres over many years, the long-serving Detroit producer has rocked up on the likes of Mahogani Music, Moods & Grooves, NDATL Muzik and his own imprint La Vida. Many more besides too when you take into account his hip-hop alter ego DJ Dez. Which is why we are super-stoked that he has joined the Hizou family with his house head on for the super-limited EP, All U Gotta Do Is Listen, a master class in downtempo, sun-kissed soulful beats, both the timeless eponymous title track and the funked-up flipside Night Time Is The Right Time.

LET’S be frank, it was only a matter of time before we nabbed Dan Piu. Many years in the game with his own uber-respected labels Moto Music and deepArtSounds, in demand as an artist under his many guises (Allstarr Motomusic/George Btp) and collaborative projects (The WineLambs, Zarenzeit and Theory Of Movement, which he shares with deep house don Grant aka Anthony Collins), Piu may be old school but his recent renaissance has turned many heads including ours. His analogue alchemy is right up our strasse so we are beyond thrilled to be able to present the Zurich-based producer’s Technological Singularity EP here at Hizou. From the celestial groove-heavy Quantum Computing to the angular electronica of Robots In Rage and from the melodic techfunk of A Machine Will Never Do X to the soul- warming F#uk The World To The Core, aficionados, followers and fanboys will not be disappointed.
