MIRA 新伝統 @mira-shindento is the project of multidisciplinary artists Honami Higuchi and Raphael Leray. They have been working on otherness and post-capitalocene thematics. Since 2019 they gained rapidly growing attention inside and outside the Japanese artistic and musical scene working and/or sharing line-ups and exhibitions with artists such as Yves Tumor, Object Blue, Doon Kanda, Ryuji Sakamoto, and the performance artist Julian Weber.

We, nineteen Czech & Czechia based producers, are in unison against the aggressive occupation and invasion of a sovereign country of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine, masking the operation as a "peacekeeping mission”. On August 21, 1968, our country was also invaded by the Soviets and Warsaw Pact armies. The occupation lasted over four more decades.

No more invasions! Fuck imperialism of all kinds!

It is time to let go of your fear and doubts. You must learn to embrace the darkness of your soul, for it is a light beacon of hope for humanity. Your soul wants to show itself in its truest form, strength, perseverance, courage and determination of spirit. In this lifetime your soul needs to cleanse and open its feelings for katharsis.

With the double compilation “Infinite Summer: Ekstase & Fantasi”, katharsis celebrates the return of raves and concerts to society after a long period of pandemic shutdown. A magical summer has passed filled with an incredible pallet of emotional material, ready to be expressed. Therefore, we encouraged a collection of artists we adore to channel their imagination of the greatest way to conclude an endless summer night into a piece of music.

This resulted in a grand assemblage of harmonious manifestations, naturally splitting into two divisions with opposing focuses. On the first part of the duology “Ekstase” coming out on September 20th, we are presented with fourteen tracks for the dancefloor in an array of different styles, ranging everywhere from energetic morning vibes on the junglish opener “Origin, Gate's Dawn” by Yem Gel to hardcore sensations on Mang’s trap-infused roller “Based Halo”.

In recent years, musicians from a range of countries once in the so-called Communist Bloc – including Central-Eastern Europe – have staked their identity on being ‘Eastern European’. Thirty years after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, this panel explores the parameters of the ‘Eastern European’ identity today. 

How do ideas of East and West fit alongside the notion of a North-South divide? How do Ukrainians perceive countries lying west of the EU border, and how does the Russian invasion of Ukraine further complicate the idea of a collective Eastern European identity? Might it be useful to think outside geopolitical bubbles, and if so, what might the new models of identity be? 

Moderated by Mariana Berezovska from @borshchmagazine, with @dogheadsurigeri from Oramics, Łukasz Warna-Wiesławski from @tancetancetance and @granko-agency, writer and music promoter Maya Baklanova and @gutameguti from eastbloc antifascist sound alliance, this discussion took place on October 10, 2022 in Cracow (PL) during the @unsound 2022 BUBBLES festival.
