World Canvas is proud to present a solo body of work by Finnish multimedia artist Kaino Wennerstrand. 'For Those Who Wait' is the debut release on their new artist moniker Kaino Kim Vieno.

The album at hand navigates a theoretically informed intersection of music and experimental sound art, which manifests in compositions encompassing and subverting contemporary genres. Over the course of its 9 songs, ‘For Those Who Wait’ engages with contemporary genre tropes and intertwines them with critically inclined speech fragments and vocals. The unfolding body of work is captivating combination of estranging and intriguing experimentations & beautiful moments sparkled in-between.
The album was made in collaboration with Helsinki-based producer and sound designer Murrettumeri (Henri Nikkilä).

Kaino Wennerstrand is a renowned and awarded Finnish multidisciplinary artist, whose works have touched upon topics such as elderly healthcare and European Union’s history and future.
Wennerstrand also works as a part of musical performance art duo Biitsi with Heidi Wennerstrand.

Returning to World Canvas after his previous work ‘Distilled’ in 2020, Comastasis (Markus Kauppi) presents his latest piece of music ‘Photoantithesis, Concerto For Petromodernity’. In the vein of his conceptual approach to compositional practice ‘Photoantithesis’ follows and engages with theoretically informed themes of oil and its ontology, the way a contemporary fossil subject is to great extent determined by oil and its flow within societies.
Additionally, the release draws inspiration and thematic outlines from the ongoing eco catastrophe and a historical materialism and new materialism related ideas about limitations of human agency (in terms of making history), where ideology and philosophical abstractions are outlined by material conditions, flowing from the outside in.

Through its compositional properties, ‘Photoantithesis’ utilises an arbitrarily moving feedback loops, stochastic synthesiser patterns and improvised noise and vocal passages. These elements, which present themselves throughout the course of the work function as embedded layers which communicate with an ever-present dark sound of a murmuring, oily surge. Over the course of its 9 tracks, the release drifts between drones, soundscapes and beats, balancing between explorative and occasionally conventional, at points reminiscent of Comastasis’ most recent club music -inclined work, ‘Ross 308’ on the Italian label paynomindtous.

As a “photoantithesis”, the album addresses a question about reversed photosynthesis, where once photosynthesised forms of energy are currently being released via exploitative practices which are destroying the habitable conditions of each and every living creature and organism.

"Two years after the acclaimed “Momentary Glow”, @FARWARMTH lands on @Soul_Feeder with a new LP in which he explores the possibility music has as a fluid storytelling and world-building device. “A Blue Wind Is Now”, in fact, conjures a land where time, as a restless stream running in multiple directions, fluctuates between the moment life ended and the moment it is reborn, between what life has been before and what it could’ve been. At times harsh, at times gentle, all of the nine compositions are connected yet fragmented, acting as possible outcomes and moments of an existence that, due to its own nature, is doomed to extinction. In this new mix he teases us with the refined palette that is to found back in every sonic project he puts out.
