This mix is the sound of hearts unraveling. Yawning Portal (@yawningportal) is an opening to other worlds: a transmutation, a prayer.

They wake with the taste of static on their tongue, echoes decay: the thread thins…there was never a first note. The atmosphere is serene and distant, with light piercing through swirling mist. Water flows gracefully through the crevices, reflecting shimmering silhouettes — a quiet beauty, gentle and warm, like the shape of love.

Hailing from London, this duo excels at capturing the intricate textures of sound, moving seamlessly between delicate field recordings and refined sampling. They released their debut EP Heart and Earth in 2020 via PLZ Make it Ruins and have since released singles via Odyxxey, Slagwerk, Club Paradiso & 29 Speedway and YEAR0001’s RIFT compilation. They scored Lydia Ourahmane’s immersive installation Survival in the Afterlife at Portikus, Frankfurt alongside an hourlong digital release Notice the Direction of Fires and collaborated with Ourahmane again to score the film Tassili; the film has since been presented at museums and institutions internationally. Since 2020 they have hosted under sleepy moon, a monthly show on NTS radio.

Saul IQM is a PhD student in cognitive psych studying multisensory illusions - Saul also likes to build data demon motor puppets, make gooey barren masks, critique scientific profit disincentives and their effects on models of the self, mold and cast alginate/silicone precis for reference, mix lush + apocalyptic sounds into dj sets to clip car speakers to oblivion while stuck in LA traffic, etc etc.
