Been meaning to do a mix of stuff that uses elements of dub and dancehall in a noisy apocalyptic industrial style, the release of The Bug's new album 'Fire' seemed a perfect reason! This sort of stuff feeds right into my love of post-punk which feeds right into EBM and industrial, it's great to play this stuff in sets so expect to hear some every time I get a chance in the next wee while, starting with tonight at the Flying Duck with Kutkh Jackdaw guesting!

Rats on Rafts - 2nd February 2022 - selected by Tyra

There were a lot of really nice sets this month, but one that stood out the most for me is from the beginning of the month – Rats on Rafts'fifth show. The group really takes you on a trip through different genres that manage to flow effortlessly, such as punk, new wave, electronic and world music. The blend of disruptive, spaceship-y sounds to softer, dreamier melodies and eerie hymns in the middle just mixed so well together and really grabbed my attention. For anyone looking for something that varies from what they may have been hearing out at clubs or bars lately, I definitely recommend this set for an offbeat afternoon.

Max Huang is a Taipei-based DJ born in the late 90's. It was at the age of 18 when he first was introduced to Techno at Korner and opened the doors to the musical underground culture. After experiencing the club culture in Berlin, he was inspired by the magic of the city’s sound and began to explore his own dark, futuristic musical style. 
As the youngest member of ANKR, he met like-minded people, was inspired by Ghetto-Techno and Neo-Trance, and eventually led to throwing his own parties. Devoted to fast-paced basslines, but at the same time retaining a light, spatial bounce, Max’s nostalgia for earlier generation Techno tones and exotic instruments has transformed him into one of Taiwan’s most sought after Techno DJs.

Max Huang是來自台北的DJ，生於90年代末的湛藍者。18歲那年，在朋友的帶領下，初次在Korner聽到Techno進而開始了對地下文化的認識，而後經歷柏林的銳舞狂喜之後，開始走向暗潮洶湧的史詩風格。做為ANKR最年輕的成員，結識了志同道合的夥伴，交流彼此曲風後深受Ghetto-Techno和Neo-Trance的啟發。忠於快節奏的重拍，但同時保留輕快的空間彈跳，對懷舊科技感以及異國情調的音色情有獨鍾。

After an extended summer hiatus bohemian drips founder Vamilienfa†er is back with his monthly installment „Elevating / Escalating“ – reinvented and for the first time leaving behind the shows concept of showcasing the musical output from other people. This episode marks the start of the new incarnation of „Elevating / Escalating“ as a monthly outlet for the massive back-archive of music produced by the host himself, titled „Etúdes in Editing“. Dive into one hour of strange noises and soft ambiences composed and created (mostly) through Eurorack Modular Synthesizer. The pieces were recorded in September 2022, featured in the first half hour – the second half is a selection form works recorded in 2020 and 2021, in Lagos, Portugal.
