Tobax and Profuze waste no time on their debut Neuropunk release! 

Yet another night shift in the lab. Ever since your boss made your team start working on project PORTUPEI a few months ago, you haven't gotten much sleep. With this project, the higher-ups at Kibernetika are trying to expand their usually quite med-tech-heavy business to include more... unconventional clients. Clients that want to use your expertise in robotics for more destructive purposes. You had some doubts about the legality and ethics of that, but how else are you going to feed your family? For this pilot project, they dug up the legendary soldier Portupei, named after the large soviet war belt he always proudly showed off. Why, you ask? Well, the "clients" are slowly losing their fight against local rebels and need a way to turn the tide in their favour. They need someone like Portupei, only better, and less dead of course. Their morbid plan: Bring him back to life, as a cyborg. With a few enhancements while you're at it, of course. 

The higher-ups were very clear: "No TIME WASTING, we need this done as soon as possible". Even though this is uncharted territory for your team, it doesn't take long to see results. Just two weeks ago, your team managed to move his legs remotely! Once that initial hurdle was cleared, everything started falling into place. 
Fast-forward to now: You are about to test the first prototype. No remote controls, just Portupei controlling his cybernetically enhanced self. Of course you installed a fail-safe though, just in case. You press the big red button and a swift shock jolts the legendary soldier awake. As he opens his eyes, he immediately stares directly towards you. Your heart instantly begins to race. That wasn't part of the plan. Just to be safe, you activate the fail-safe. Portupei doesn't stop though. In fact, he is now marching towards you, faster and faster. You sprint away, only barely escaping through the lab's safety door, while the team tries to take him offline, to no avail. On the other side you can hear Portupei pounding against the door, which is crumbling more and more with every hit. Just as you are coming to terms with your fate, you hear a loud thud. Your colleagues managed to knock him out! You breathe a heavy sigh of relief. None of this is worth it, you think to yourself. You hand in your notice the next day, never to return.

"Welcome to Frostify Incorporated, I'll be your guide for today! We're very happy so many of you want to invest in our idea. You will now get an exclusive look into what it is that gives our products their distinct long-lasting coldness. Alright, just come with me into the changing room, I'm afraid your suits won't cut it inside!"

"Got your cold suits on? Great! I know it's uncomfortable, but trust me, you will need them. Follow me." The group steps through a big door into a bright room. Once their eyes have acclimated, they see a massive cave-like complex, complete with meter-long stalactites hanging from above. Literally everything around them is frozen solid, from plants to even animals. "Impressive, isn't it? Unlike our competitors, we only use naturally occurring sources of frost. Look, there!", he points to the ceiling, "Say hello to FROSTBOLT!"

"You might think, 'that giant three-headed icy wyrm looks dangerous', and you'd think right! His presence alone generates enough coldness to keep this cave at less than -100°C. However, thanks to our patented MUZZLE technology you don't have to fear him at all. Even though he has been breathing his deadly ice at us this whole time, it only feels like a light breeze for us, thanks to the muzzle. You'd only ever be in danger if you used something like, let's say, a lighter. He really doesn't like heat."

As the group follows the guide around, one particularly jet-lagged investor is so sleepy he decides he needs caffeine. He reaches into his bag to pull out an insulated, now frozen, container of coffee. Good thing this container also has a self-heating function! A few moments after he pressed the button, a loud screech erupts from above. "Huh?", asks the guide. "You got to be kidding me, you absolute CHUMP! Did you not hear what I just told you?! Everyone, run! The muzzle won't help us much longer now!"

As the temperature rapidly drops, the group clumsily tries to escape across the now even icier road. "Leave that container behind, once it's gone, we should be safe!", screams the guide to the panicky investor, who immediately throws it as far as he can. A few seconds later, Frostbolt's beam of ice bursts through the barrier.
Before the shockwave can reach them the last few jump through the door to safety. "Well", the guide breathlessly admits, "That's why the muzzle is still in ALPHA stage. That concludes our tour for today."

Over the years, the small predators conquered the entire world and spread rapidly.
Once again, size was not the decisive factor.
They seemed to be unstoppable and lived without fear or opposition.
But one day this should change...
A meteoroid with the diameter of 180killometer broke through the cloud cover and tore everything in debris and ash what was on earth.
Even the small predators had no chance and were completely wiped out by the catastrophe.

Once there was a bloodthirsty creature living deep in the jungle. Humanity was frightened and so they tried to calm the creature down. A huge temple was built right above the caves where the existence of the monster was first discovered as no living thing was ever seen again after entering this particular part of the jungle.
But nothing changed and even after starting to sacrifice their harvest, farm animals and even ritual chosen villagers, the creature didn’t stop to take their tribute.
One night the witchdoctor called the ancient gods, that were always holding their hands above the village until the creature appeared, to ask them for advice. They perceived his appeal and offered him a solution to extinguish the monster threatening them.
Whenever the creature would appear out of their cave to attack any of the villagers, their possessions or structures, they would cover it in sharp splinters, appearing out of nothing, making it cry in pain. But of course, there is a demand the village needs to fulfill to receive the protection offered.
The claim that was made by the gods was simpler than most villagers expected, not containing any claims for human sacrifices or comparable but to provide two temple workers with drums at any time, and whenever the monster would come outside, they should beat the drums in a fast rhythm. The witchdoctor was confused, but he agreed to the offer and from that day on made sure, that the temple was always occupied.
After the creature appeared and got covered in sharp splinters, and the workers beat the drums, the villagers realized there was an incomparable rhythm emerging from the combination of the cries in pain of the creature and the drums. Now they could understand the demand of the gods, as they couldn’t stop moving to the incredible rhythm and power the newly created art triggered deep in their minds and body’s.

It's not often you see someone rise up the label ranks this quickly, but if the production is as banging as THIR13EN's it's very much understandable. In less than one year, Kirill Popov went from starting his production journey as THIR13EN to releasing on some of the best Neurofunk labels in the scene, including ProtoCode, Kill Tomorrow and Subplate Recordings. Unsurprisingly, the Neuropunk team soon got interested in the Moscow-based producer's output, both for the infamous Neuropunk podcast a few months ago and soon after for the label itself, as part of the NEUROPUNK FORGE! Presenting: THIR13EN and his UNDER CONTROL EP!

Remember 5 years ago, when that pesky Covid pandemic disrupted our lives like nothing else that came before it? Who knows what would have happened without that one freak accident on Christmas Eve of 2022 at the Frostify ice factory that finally gave us the cure once and for all! Armed with that new medication, we as the human race could finally collectively tell the virus "You won't take my live UNDER CONTROL anymore". However, it still lingers on in our world. 

Once we got our normal lives back, the government ordered a group of scientists to continue experimenting on the virus. Officially, they wanted to improve our understanding of the genome so we could handle future outbreaks more effectively. In reality, they had more sinister plans. The scientists were pressured to keep developing stronger and stronger versions of the virus. With each iteration it became harder to keep the security measures up, so the lab was relocated into a nearby cave system, which is why they nicknamed the project "CAVID".

However, the scientists were right to be nervous. After a few weeks they were testing out a version of the virus far deadlier than ever before, nicknamed THE ONE. The In Vitro tests were successful, but in turning the virus more deadly they also unknowingly increased its transmissibility to the point where even the air carried a deadly viral load. In no time the virus spread all over the cave, infecting everyone working inside. In mere minutes the first people started dying, but the remaining few still managed to activate the cave's emergency airpump system so the virus would at least not be able to get out if someone tries to enter.

Every now and then, everyone from government officials to curious hikers try their luck and go into the cave, but no one has ever returned alive. We can only hope the security measures stay intact.

1. Quarks and Leptons

A track I'm sure you've all heard by now after being featured in some recent mixes and dropped across Europe over the last tour season, Quarks and Leptons is a masterclass in fine tuned and edit heavy nastiness. A track as mystery infused as the title suggests, the crunchiest of crunchy breaks and a little technoid workout build only to drop out to the soothing sounds of an endless night sky before thundering fire and brimstone down on you for the (first) drop....and there's so much more to come! A constantly evolving little bastard with enough weight for the dance floor but also intricate enough to keep you going back to notice new details on each repeat listen. 


2. Broken Wounds (Ft Robyn Chaos & Fortitude)

Immediately repeatable and tapping into the current creeping malaise, this haunting, socially critical vocal by Robyn Chaos tells you 'Pretend all your life. It all ends in sin. We're only broken wounds and open skin' before a full on assault on the senses kicks you in the c**t. Premiered at Therapy Sessions London last fall during Fortitude's set, a short video clip filmed from the crowd amassed over a thousand plays within a day. For us this track beautifully defines what makes Switch Technique so interesting. The intro encapsulates the sounds of technology revolting and a society dying.. Eerie vocals, paranoid synths and dystopian atmospherics guide you by the hand into ground zero where the apocalypse has already begun. A love story to heavy, an ode to glitch, and a sobbing confession to the dark. 


3. 140 Conspiracy - Robyn Chaos & Fortitude (Switch Technique Remix) 

A truly epic remix of Robyn Chaos and Fortitude's stomping call to arms from TSR002, this delivers the same message but trades words for sheer brutality.Starting off as a portentous, distorted transmission from another world, the frequencies slowly align just in time for the intricate kickdrum workout to tear your face off. A Tasmanian devil-esque ball of crazy proceeds to hammer away and claw at your sanity (and your dancing feet) and then... there's the brief respite.... the moment you stop running and all you can is the sound of your own heart beating....You're allowed to catch your breathe ever so slightly before the second wave of anarchy floods the streets and it's time to run.


4. Ride Out

'Are you afraid you're alone....?'

A little trip down memory lane with a fitting homage to Switch Technique's earlier broken drumfunk styles. A more amen and distorted bass stabs focused slice of nasty pie that tears at the membrane blurring the line between drum and bass and hardcore and haunts jungle's dreams. Starting with a vocal stab and synths almost borrowed from the liquid genre any hope of hearing some subtle, jazz inspired funk is slapped out of your head as the vibe switches to a more sinister mistress. Simultaneously old school and brand new it's a dark, brooding beast that's come to sing a terrifying lullaby to your first born....
