Kings and Daughters - Okay, I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't

HM is proud to partner with deathcore band Scylla on the release of the first single from their upcoming EP, Distances. The band, hailing from Phoenix, AZ, teamed up with Tom Barber of Lorna Shore on the track, a progressive and (most certainly) heavy jammer about some of the very real and very harsh realities of addiction.

Vocalist Keenan Farris spoke with HM a little more directly about the nature of the lyrics: "Descent was written to represent a downfall of mankind. It is probably the 'darkest' song on the EP. When writing the lyrics, I started with an idea of something that has taken over humanity; I decided to go with addiction. It's based on addiction to anything, drugs, alcohol, pornography, television -- anything. I started to get sick of hearing songs that don't show the harsh reality of addiction, so I wrote this song to show a harsh reality."

Vocalist Corey Pettit spoke with HM about the six-song EP:

"Such is Life is a collection of songs that open up a dialogue about various feelings or things we, as humans, have to deal with in our lives that aren't exactly positive. We didn't want to sugar coat the content so a lot of it comes off as cynical or melancholy -- but it's honest, which is what we were going for. Such is Life deals with addiction, anxiety, fighting complacency and a few other subjects that are harsh realities of the world we live in. We hope that you find some solace in knowing that you are not alone in these issues and that you can get through it. That's the main idea of this EP: You will get past it and move on, and it's worth it to."

Such is Life - High Strung

Beverly, Massachusetts band Valleyheart has released the first single from upcoming EP, "Kids from Calvary," with HM. The band formed in 2016 and features former members of Exiting the Fall.

We spoke vocalist and guitarist Kevin William Klein about the upcoming EP: "In the Nowadays EP, I struggle with the ideas of my youth, growing up and finding peace in that sometimes tough transition. When I was younger, there was a sense that everything was seemingly simpler: that friends were close, our dreams and motives pure and life just happened naturally on its own in this beautiful, organic way. Whether it was friends, God or even my own inner peace, everything seemed closer and more tangible. The EP explores redefining what purpose, peace, and an authentic faith looks like for us today, and how we remain connected in light of all the crazy, strange, unexpected turns life takes."
