Over the past decade, Stones & Bones have become a household name among house lovers and DJs the world over. Their single, Amahloni, released under the Moblack imprint, has to date received over 4 million streams and is lovingly described as one of the classic tracks that helped define the Afro-tech genre. The duo became well-known for electrifying Afro-house sets that include saxophone, flutes, and vocal chants when they won the Jack Daniels Jackscouts competition in 2017.

Since 2017, Stones & Bones have shared their unique pioneering brand of Afro-house to audiences all over the world. When they are not on tour, they spend time in their studio pushing the envelope of musical possibility. During lockdown in 2020, Stones & Bones released an EP titled "In The Name Of Love" that contained three singles on South African commercial radio.

In 2022, the duo released their debut album titled "The 12 Year Saga" on all digital platforms.

Our buddy Emric aka Wolf Stroy did a smash debut on HMWL in 2021 with the afro house cut Berilla feat Mabiisi. It's still his top one Spotify track two years later. We caught up with Wolf Story in Tokyo where he played the iconic Oath venue.

Oath is a small club in Shibuya -Tokyo's most famous neihbourhood, an intimate club. The kind of club where people actually talk to each other. It was the first club I visited in Japan 2 years ago. It features dozens of chandeliers, which gives a really unique feel inside the venue. Akira, manager at Oath confirmed my last gig of my Asian tour in dec 2023. I enjoyed playing a two-hour set that night, great way to conclude a busy schedule in Korea & Japan. If you want to try the ultimate experience in Shibuya, you have to taste Habushu, a liquior from Okinawa with a snake in it...this will wake up a dead man ! Supposingly it is also used as medecine...

Burning Man: where each year brings a whirlwind of adventures, surprises, and moments that stick with you long after the dust settles. And in the midst of all that chaos, there's DISTRIKT; an oasis of fun and entertainment that looks straight from a Mad Max movie gone wild, takes the Burning Man experience to a whole new level. 

My inaugural gig at DISTRIKT two years back was a textbook case of Burning Man madness. Picture this: a monstrous sandstorm sweeping across the playa, me wandering around lost on my bike, fashionably late to my own set. But did DISTRIKT panic? Nah. They greeted me with a fresh smoothie to kickstart my DJing journey amidst the swirling dust. Classic!

Fast forward to my most recent escapade at DISTRIKT, and Mother Nature decided to throw a curveball — cue the floodwaters!! Yet, the flood came fashionably late, conveniently after my set. But that night? Dehydration was the name of the game. AND my Traktor, bless its digital soul, decided it wasn't in the mood to play nice with the mixer. And there I was, parched AF like a desert plant, with everyone and their playa cousins offering me water tequila while I attempted to update the mixer driver in a haze of confusion, and of course, the DISTRIKT gang was there on top of the whole process to get me up and running - literally and musically. 

In true playa fashion the show must go on. Cue the backup USBs swooping in to save the day. And just when I thought it couldn't get any wilder, in strolls Diplo himself, ready to unveil our collaborative masterpiece ‘Anthem' to the world (although at the time we did’t have name for it yet). But wait, there's more — did you know those dusty X1 Traktor controllers could go wireless? Neither did I, until Diplo schooled me, adding cowbells to our track live like a mad musical scientist.

So without further ado, here's a glimpse into that glorious night before the floods—a sonic journey through the madness and magic of DISTRIKT at Burning Man. Enjoy the ride.  ~ Sharam
