https://soundcloud.com/mitch_oliver has cemented himself as a pillar of XYZ's artistic direction over the last few years. He's caressed two of the imprint's most emblematic tracks to date. Same Light seized attention with a remix from the one-and-only Hernan Cattaneo, before the sensational Alleghanys skyrocketed to global applause. His Exil EP continued his bespoke impact on the label, and now we pass him the wheel on our seminal series - Oppo.

Oppo gives full creative control to the producer, who essentially functions as the label head on the project. Curating sounds from artists around the world who've influenced his journey thus far, as well as a pristine production of his own, Mitch Oliver presents a project that fully represents his tastes as an artist.

On the A-side, Mitch connects with Carl Sylvestre with an instant classic. 'When You Run' cuts deep into the groove, providing soaring emotive energy with sensational vocal work.

Label favorites https://soundcloud.com/deathonthebalcony return to XYZ on the B-side. 'One Big Circle' captures all that we love about the British duo, harnessing timeless house tones with blissful spoken word.

Germany's Flowers on Monday continues the backbone of Oppo - deep melodic movement with crisp basslines carrying the groove from start to finish. 'Dream On' is a delightful offering from two of the scenes finest gents.

Mexico's https://soundcloud.com/eduardomcgregor will be well known to the When We Dip family, as he's been an essential artist on our TOR imprint. He comes correct with playful percussion and swaying synthetic sounds on 'The Hunter'.

https://soundcloud.com/davidorinmusique is back! The New Yorker never fails to provide the magic. 'Turquoise' welcomes an Eastern edge, as soothing and surreal vibes rise with an underlying quality that is omnipresent with Orin's work.

Closing out this prolific project is a collaboration between https://soundcloud.com/bodaishin & https://soundcloud.com/lupe-republic. 'Oceans' features NiN, with chopped vocal cuts balancing dreamy delights to ease us out of Oppo.

Flowers on Monday - Dream On [When We Dip XYZ]

Following on from the success of their inaugural release ‘Mythical Creatures', roku welcomes Chriss V & Olart to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Albania, Chriss V has been a fixture of the electronic underground for the better part of two decades. Highly regarded as a DJ, Chriss has shared the stage with a variety of top international talents, with Solomun, Eric Prydz, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Henry Saiz, Roy Rosenfeld, Sebastien Leger, Khen, Eli Nissan and Armen Miran being the most notable. As a producer, Chriss has been selective with his projects over the last decade, with Dbeatzion Records, Elliptical Sun Recordings and Inception being the primary landing spots for his progressive sound. Having forged a partnership with newcomer and fellow countryman Olart last year, the duo released their first ever production, a remix of ‘Sands of Time' by Gabo Martin & Jesuan M via Nikko.Z's Dopamine White. Now, continuing to build on their creative synergy, Chriss and Olart debut on roku with ‘Distance Echoes', alongside remixes from Kostya Outta and Eri D.

The release concludes with Eri D also making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘City of Glass'. Returning from a five-year hiatus the Albanian artist was prolific from 2014-2016, racking up key releases via Abstract Space, Elliptical Sun and Massive Harmony Records. Now calling Miami home, Eri makes a welcome return to the spotlight with an inspired rendition of ‘City of Glass'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Albanian artist crafts a deep and progressive experience all his own, a hopeful journey into an emotive hinterland, where dulcet beats, youthful melodies and transcendent designs emerge from their nicely manicured architecture, onwards to a finale of glowing atmospheres.

Simio Albino is a promising rising talent in the scene born and raised in Mexico City and based in NYC, with releases under labels like 3rd Avenue. 

Alberto Hernandez, also from Mexico, has releases in major labels such as All Day I Dream and Tale + Tone and has gained recognition and attention of heavyweights in the electronic music industry. He is perpetuating the hype with every release.

To dig crates in 2023 is to explore an electronic ecosystem beyond taxonomising; there are now more tracks on Beatport than there are people in Hong Kong, and (as in nature) specialisation is the key to a producer’s success. Brothers Hayden and Barton Strom (Out of Sorts) understand this, having perfected a brawny but restrained style of house across their post-Antix career. Their latest release with T-Bone for Beat & Path presents the essentials of this sound with time-won self-assurance.

‘The Key’ centres around a confident vocal line from T-Bone, a Kiwi producer and vocalist who brings a blues influence to this extraplanetary expedition. With twenty-seven years in the underground electronic scene, Out of Sorts have the dexterity to try unconventional approaches; here they’ve begun with acoustic stems recorded by T-Bone on an Akai multitrack, manipulating them into a spacey early-morning house piece. The result is as much a song as it is a track, an exquisite electronic sculpture covered in acoustic fingerprints, and will appeal to lovers of Innervisions and the ecstatic gravity of the South African deep house sound.

The B-side is from Jamie Stevens, a man whose release schedule is absolutely sprawling this year (with releases on Balance, Bedrock and Selador in March alone). His mature, restrained signature is immediately audible on this seven-minute remix, which is too certain in its source material to bother with dramatic builds and drops. A few meticulously chosen elements and an irresistible groove; good dance music requires nothing more.

Flow Music is back with the 10th release on its record label, and it's celebrating double figures with an epic melodic house EP featuring enchanting original music by Amir Telem, plus remixes from Nōpi and Soul Button.

Amir Telem is an Israeli artist whose broad tastes cover a full range of melodic styles ranging from indie dance to progressive house. An accomplished DJ and talented producer, Amir Telem's style fuses invigorating melodies with expansive atmosphere and crisp percussion to create tracks and remixes released by the likes of Bar 25, 3000 Grad Records, Pipe & Pochet, Joof and Armada.

On remix duty, Nōpi is a Ukrainian artist known for his deep and uplifting releases on Anjunadeep, All Day I Dream and Do Not Sit. He is a talented young producer whose organic style warms the heart, mind and soul.

Also providing a remix, Soul Button is a German artist who plays headline DJ sets across Europe and further afield. He describes his melodic style as ethereal techno as its angelic atmosphere and driving percussion are truly spine-tingling. His own record label Steyoyoke is the main outlet for his original tracks, but he has provided remixes for other labels including the likes of Einmusika Recordings.

"Laws of Detachment" is an uplifting track with shuffling percussion and angelic vocal samples, and Soul Button’s remix works in extra synths that build suspense and lift the intensity. "Radesh" is second of the two originals and it has fluttering melodies layered with dramatic stabs to create a monumental sound. Nōpi's remix of Radesh softens the original by adding a tranquil vibe that contrasts with the upbeat percussion to create a mesmerising version that's perfect for the dance floor.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint rounds out the month of June by welcoming Jean Caillou back to the label for a new EP. First emerging in 2016 from Switzerland's avant-garde electronic landscape, Jean Caillou quickly established himself with releases via Magician On Duty, RYNTH and Underyourskin Records, where his thoughtful take on deep house flourished. Moving forward, 2019 saw the Zurich resident make his Sound Avenue debut with a well-received remix of Joe Miller's 'The Days'. Deep and enchanting in equal measure, its organic vibe immediately won over DJs and fans alike, sparking what has been a fruitful relationship between the Belgian imprint and Swiss artist. Now, nearly four years on from his label debut and Jean has recorded two artist EPs and two additional remixes, making him one of Sound Avenue's most steadfast artists. Fully formed within the creative confines of his Zurich studio, Jean's third Sound Avenue project 'Montauk', follows on from 2022's 'Simplon', a five-track affair bursting with charismatic charm and stirring musicality. Now continuing on this explorative path, Jean makes a welcome return to Sound Avenue for his third artist showcase entitled 'Montauk'.
