Soft, fluid, slow. A melodious flow of music, filled with the sweet melancholy of ever-changing time and inevitable loneliness, telling stories of passing life. This is Doina's energy. Doina is one of Moldavia’s musical folklore dramaturgies, which has inspired our friend and artist @bliznochi to compose the songs for our today’s release „Nisip“.
The EP may be seen as a dedication to what we call our home, our home lands. The environment we have perceived in our childhood. The nature, the sounds and the emotions that are deeply rooted in our minds and hearts, carried to present times. For Bliz Nochi this home is the Nistru river in Moldavia, of which shores he has grown up, capturing the tradition of local culture.
Bliz Nochi combined both works „Nisip De Pe Malul Nistrului" (meaning „the sand of the shores of the river Nistru“) and „Sand“ into the EP’s title "Nisip" – sand. Its memories drive Bliz Nochi’s search for new interpretations of the traditional Moldavian musical song – Doina – as a theme of connection with the land where he grew up, with the flow of the river, the passage of time and the eternal song of life.
Accompanied by Amalia Sadreev, clarinetist from Kazan, who skilfully transforms the feeling of Doina through his instrument. The clarinet sings this Doina song in „Nisip De Pe Malul Nistrului" together with a male voice, echoing and complementing each other. 
The polyrhythmic melody of „Sand“ is performed with an acoustic guitar. Meant to induce our subconsciousness, this melody might feels familiar to some, being once sung by a male or female voice. It shall connect us with the mood of that ever-flowing song of life.

The EP comes with 4 Remixes. Each of them combining the original idea of the songs with the unique style of the artists:

Portuguese duo Ohxalá (@ohxala) casts their unmistakable groove on „Nisip De Pe Malul Nistrului“ by drawing a baseline, that simply invites you to jump up and dance.

Hungarian artist BéTé (@destroydisco) is known for his bright and colourful edits. He adds the song a typical pinch of playfulness and emphasises its trippy character.

C.love (@cloveontherocks-1) sprinkles the flair of her habitat, the Californian Joshua Tree desert. She kinda lets the sun dry out „Sand“ and sieves it’s grains. The result is a rough and psychedelic texture, spiced up with a fine dash of acid.

Istanbul based artist Erhan Yilmaz (@erhanyilmazedits) stirs in an oriental flavour to his interpretation and let’s the Nistru river flow a little faster. He pours in a mysterious and bouncy wave that is all set for its vigorous slosh on the dance floor.

Says the legend that on an eclipse ocasion, both guarani and inca people threw a big party to daze the Celestial Ounce (Xivi), because they believe that the end of the world would happen when she gobbles the Moon and Sun brothers, then the Earth falls thus in the fullest darkness. Just as Xivi, Raru is the hindu demon followed by a tiger that also tries to voraciously swallow the stars, causing the eclipses. Like these, countless ancestral myths around the world explain this phenomenon; for the Pomo people there is a fight between the Bear and the Sun, and for the Tlingit it is the moment of stealthy darkness for the Moon and the Sun to love each other.

Ancient Future - At the centre piece of this track is the use of samples of the "Ghuzeng", a Chinese plucked Zither instrument. A fusion of ancient and future tones have been beautifully melded to create a new way forward whilst honouring the past. Inspired by his travels throughout several Asian countries, this track, in particular, highlights Captures' experiential sensations of the far East. Channeling settling, calm, and mystical vibrations that resonate deep into a different time.

Shinrai (Trust) - Shinrai translates to ‘trust’ in Japanese. From a young age, Captures has been inspired by Japanese culture and anime. Shinrai draws from these influences, combining Eastern percussion with playfully psychedelic sounds and delicate sprinkles of Latin percussion. This piece strikes the perfect balance between both a mind-enriching and body-moving experience. Trust the journey.

Wobble Theory - As we enter the latter half of this musical journey, the tempo picks up as wobbling and pulsing bells bend and push through the core of the track. Meanwhile, funk-laden bass lines help to create a raw and powerful push that infiltrates the body and helps the listener to tap into their primitive and insatiable desire to dance.

Stirring Spells - Closing the EP, Captures offers us Stirring Spells which combines Latin rhythms with arpeggiated synths and a heavy groove to bring fancy footwork to the dance-floor. All the while, echoes of Japanese choirs and airy, bubbling synths merge to create a wonderfully blissful level of depth and kaleidoscopic visions. This creates an unparalleled blend of dreamy ambience with a pure and powerful driving energy.

After his deep nature, consciously inspired contribution to our first release on Earthly Tapes 01, Janax Pacha returns with that jungly vibe again bringing you ‘El Caracol’. Translating to ‘The Snail’, the 4-track EP comprises two tempo shifting interpretations of a journey through vibrating mystical woodlands plus two re-works by Andi Otto and Carrot Green.

Slowly pulsating through a surreal and tripped out space, on the title track and EP opener ‘Caracol’, Janax Pacha effortlessly infuses South American indigenous wind instruments and distorted chimes with a deep chugging bassline to create a deep and introspective piece.
