Summer is in the air. Taken from his album “Ātman”, Lucefora’s “La Danza De Las Castañas” is a cosmic disco affair that’s shrouded in dynamic percussion and mysterious melodies with a Far East influence. Waves of glitchy arpeggios are accompanied by sparkling synth stabs and an infectious groove that all leads to a euphoric breakdown of strings and beautiful soundscapes. Expect big energy and love on the dance floor for this one! The package features four remixes from boys be kko, Fluida and Ayala (IT). The boys bekko remix is an intense stripped back version that’s moody and explicitly powerful.
Punchy drums and a gritty bass line are layered with surreal sounds that builds the tension up to a rolling boil. Fluida delivers two variations, the first is a proper remix with an uplifting, energetic tone that’s wrapped in warm strings and synths. Their bonus dub version concentrates on melodic loops and the slick bass line, giving it a more minimal flair, yet equally as potent. Finally, the Ayala (IT) version is a full on fiesta with it’s percussive driven vibe and joyous playful feeling that’s just in time for summer.

Three years after his Darker Than Wax debut Futuro Tumbao (supported by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Lefto, and Bandcamp Weekly), Kansado returns with a sequel that goes further to introduce fresh new takes on Latin soul. If Futuro Tumbao represented testing the waters of future afro-Cuban music, Futuro Tumbao II is a full-on submersion and exploration into this fusion. Based in uptown New York City, Dominican-American producer Kansado is rooted in the hub of a flourishing afro-latin independent music scene. Kansado fuses the rhythms of the Caribbean and Latin soul with the left field sensibilities of hip hop, neo soul, and lofi to create a musical language all his own.

‘Futuro’ is Spanish for future and ‘Tumbao’ carries two meanings: One, the base rhythm found in afro-Cuban music, and two, swagger. Standout tracks ‘Limber de Coco’ and ‘Suave Como Va’ quote the smooth progressions of latin soul greats Poncho Sanchez and Tito Puente, all the while blurring the lines between the new and traditional - Latin soul meets future funk. ‘El Neo Songo’ and ‘Astral Yambú’ offer a meditative space where the folkloric forms of songo and rumba blend seamlessly into neo soul and jazz. ‘Lala Guayaba’ takes you to the heart of the Dominican Republic and lays wavy synths and guitars over a thumping side chained tambora - introducing a future beat sensibility to merengue.

Futuro Tumbao II is both a love letter to the future of afro-latin music, as well as a strong statement about Kansado’s growth as an artist. With a meticulous approach to songwriting and production, and a reverence for the artists and genres that have inspired him, Kansado has carved out a musical lane all his own.

Spiritual lead track 'Through The Woods' is a mesmerising percussive opus with a driving melody and wailing shaman-like vocal that heals the soul, and replenishes your energy ready for a night dancing under the stars.
The bonus stripped down version provides added dimension with even greater emphasis on the mesmerising vocal sample and rising beats, as the tension builds to a warm percussive crescendo, before drawing you back in.

'Sahara' features instrumentation from Yaron Reuveni in a dramatic musical journey evoking distant dreams of a hot shimmering desert sunset. This modal meditation in eastern scales is embelished by hynotic percussion and a vibrant groove that generates subtle momentum, like ever shifting sands.

Closing cut 'Destination' takes ATL013 deeper into the night and firmly onto the club floor with a rich addictive acid groove that will leave you wanting more.

Why do we tell stories? 
We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs. But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human. The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun. With ‘Tragedia', Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists all across the world to bring these themes to life. There is much to laud here. Swiss Stil vor Talent heavyweight Several Definitions kicks things off with the afro-house of ‘Roots’ while Stevie R collaborates with vocalist Djanan Turan and violinist Master Dani on the huge ‘Misirlu (Acid Version)’, ahead of his soon-to-be-released debut album. The impactful opening trio is completed by ‘Mubaraq’, which marks the debut of Argentinian artists Brigado Crew and Crisstiano on Chapter 24, following their contributions to the Diynamic and Jeudi labels. Hungarian Sobek adds to the package with the tense and powerful ‘Croco In The Marsh’. Then ESP Institute, Futureboogie and Culprit artist and hero of We Love…Space Ian Blevins offers ‘Tuesday’s Child’, a driving and melodic cut that paves the way for the breaks and synth workout of label co-founder Sam Pauli’s ‘Sleeper’.Finally, Los Angeles-based Rinzen ends this wide-ranging compilation with ’Temple’, a forward-thinking widescreen progressive techno piece with the perfect emotional lift to close things out.They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away...

'Tash’s Movement Recordings celebrates their 200th release by welcoming Rafa’EL back to the label for a new EP. The Polish artist first appeared on the Greek imprint in September of 2016 with the ‘Fields of Hope’ EP. Written in conjunction with Northern Lights boss K Nass, it made for a stellar label debut. Also owning releases on Balkan Connection, Beatfreak, ICONYC, Soundteller and Stellar Fountain, Rafa’EL now lands back on Movement with ‘Misconception’ alongside remixes from Paul Angelo & Don Argento and Sean & Dee.
Beginning with the title track Rafa’EL explores the deeper spectrum of progressive minded house. Its warm, spacious groove is perfectly contoured, adorned with tasteful arps, finely tuned percussion and timely effects. Stripping down into the main break, icy overlays heighten anticipation before a cavernous reservoir adds just the right amount of tension as a smooth finale ensues. The companion piece ‘All I Could Think’ continues the deep yet trippy ethos set by its predecessor. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, the piece flows through astral designs, melodic fragments and gaseous atmospheres across the first act. The narrative shifts into more emotive territory moving into the break, with a gorgeous tonal theme taking centrestage, before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing final act. 
The first interpretation of ‘Misconception’ is provided by Movement artists Paul Angelo & Don Argento. Hailing from Cyprus, the much-loved duo has become a core part of the Greek imprint since making their debut in 2017 with a contribution to the label’s ‘Technical Progress’ Vol. 7 collection. Paul and Don have since gone on to appear an additional six times while also finding a home on Beat Boutique, Dopamine Music, Sound Avenue and Soundteller Records. Now following their well received ‘Dear Cave’ EP, the duo lands back on Movement with a stunning remix of ‘Misconception’. Dark and driving, the groove commands a large presence as electric rhythms and astral artifacts adorn the framework. Evolving with a veteran’s savvy, timely drops and percussive flurries provide dynamic moments leading into the second act. Icy drifts highlight the main break, delivering palpable tension before melting down to a wonky fill and ultimately a powerful drop.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Misconception’ is provided by Sean & Dee who return to the label for their third appearance. The Italian duo first appeared on the Greek imprint in January of 2019 with a remix of ‘Resurrection’ by V-Cious and Trapped In Time before kicking off 2020 with their highly touted ‘Phoenix’ EP. Also laying claim to releases on BeatFreak Recordings, ICONYC, Outta Limits and UV, Sean & Dee now land back on Movement with a powerful rendition of ‘Misconception’. Remarkably fluid and undeniably modern, it’s a mix that stays true to the delicate themes from the original, while adding an underlying tension through crisp design and electric rhythms. Airy atmospheres rise as the first act strips down into the centrepiece, perfectly setting up an emotive interlude and dramatic bridge into an exhilarating conclusion.  A powerful remix from Sean & Dee, rounding out what is a monumental 200th release for Movement Recordings. '
