'Sometimes you dream about being able to stroll from planet to planet. Waddling smoothly between interstellar places within minutes without working up a sweat.

These 3 versions of the track Deía do exactly this. And they do it with elegance and fleet-footedness. Even if all the tracks are quite different from each other, so they all circle around the same yellow glowing ball of light in the same solar system. They share the warmth of a fervent sun-soaked afternoon. An afternoon perfect to discover stars and explore little adventures.

The original track from Mira & Christopher Schwarzwalder takes its time before it puts you in your space suit. It guides you into your journey with a cautious hand, letting the engine reverberate at just the right time. It doesn’t matter if we’re ascending or descending through the atmosphere, we’re on the move.

Ruede Hagelstein also takes his time. First, he sends us a postcard with the most beautiful description of his home planet. Later, he begins to fill us in on all the details of its origins and history. All this he does with the guiding hand of a perfectly experienced travel guide who loves nothing more than to share these little secrets and stories with you.

AVEM, in turn, picks us up with his planet cruiser - an old family heirloom – which he has devotedly maintained for years. The sound aboard prepares for the slightly wonky sunrises in his homeland. He points out of the cockpit with bright eyes and whistles 'Deía - oh, Deía – we are coming! “'

Oncatalogue number 099 the two of them showcase their remarkable skill to merge the past, the present and thefuture into moments of uttermost bliss. How does that work? There's the old magic of their warm, bouncybasses and the soft tickle of their hi hats, a magic that was already conjured up at ancient tribal dances. Howmasterfully this is done becomes clear when you realize that you can neither resist the catchiness of these threetracks nor explain it. Sounds Of Khemit continues to introduce its rich array of talent with another Various Artists EP that features Sanoi & Zuke, Bákayan and Kyongpaul. This is a label that is intent on transporting listeners to higher states of consciousness with its music. It's about sounds that strengthen the soul and bring harmony and joy to everyday life. The fantastic 11 track Khepri compilation was a testament to that and this new EP is another sure step on the journey. Say the label of the inspiration for this project, "The Khemitian Master of Masters Tehuti, known as Thoth and as Hermes for the Greeks, is the master of wisdom, the scribe of God. He is responsible for all human knowledge and is the master of learning, writing, science, art and magic and a founder of all major disciplines from science to astrology, alchemy to magic. Most myths speak of the venerated Tehuti as a man with impeccable persuasive and speaking skills whose ancient Khemit wisdom has been lost for thousands of years. After the 2019 launch of The Gardens of Babylon’s record label we find ourselves in a very different world. Last year’s compilation was a musical snapshot of a physical festival experience with contributions coming from those who were there. This year, the compilation assumes a different role – a sonic journey through the times, memories, and loved ones we miss, as well as a sense of comfort as we look to reunite on a dancefloor somewhere around the world...

‘The Monastery’ 2020 draws contributions from friends and family, developing its narrative from the opening percussion of Menachem 26’s ‘Kumkapi Blues’ through the closing euphoria of Glauco di Mambro’s ‘Solar Safari’. Along the way, each track reads as a different chapter, transporting listeners to the sea of smiles that make up The Monastery Festival Experience. These chapters break down the weekend, encapsulating the emotions of its many facets, locations, and feelings. With ‘Light On The Road,’ Ali Farahani sets palpable anticipation, leading into the jazzy breaks of Gorje Hewek's ‘Der Geist Seiner Zeit’. Then, Maga’s delicately brooding ‘Muzike’ (feat. Arc) makes way for the gently rising piano of Parallell’s ‘Everybody Knows’. By the time, Derun’s ‘Los Caminos de Sirkedji’ hits, things start getting twisty, day turns to night, and ‘The Monastery’ is in full swing. From here, Amine K, Niko Schwind, Noraj Cue & unders, Dauw, Madmotormiquel, and Headwaters expand consciousness through mythical, hypnotic offerings – some low slung, some deep, dark, and driving. This is where resident VANDER’s ‘Can’t Get No Sleep’ drops and sums up the experience perfectly, interjecting fresh funk into groovy percussion, before giving way to after-hour vibes courtesy of KRAUT, Franca, and Sound Shapes...
