The first solo release from the Handpicked roster comes in the form of the long awaited Cheeky Forty full length beat tape, ‘Milk & Honey’, a selection of summer scorchers for you to bump on your boombox on a sunny day in the park. 

Individually dubbed in real time on to 50 x Limited Edition C60 cassette tapes, the release sways through a selection of silky beats - smooth chords are laid over a subtle sample selection, the drums hit hard but this isn’t your typical boom bap beat tape.

Picking up on the prime elements of jazz, funk and soul, Cheeky Forty’s sound comes through fluently with an essential mix of sickly sweet head nodders.

Artwork for this release comes from Tash Willcocks, a designer involved in Manchester’s Generic Greeting collective, and features a full typographic zine housed inside the cassette tape sleeve with each song being given it’s own unique space.

We have also enlisted the foodie skills of Emma Shenton aka Hoe Cakes, who has curated a Milk & Honey Ice Cream recipe with Honey, Cardimom and Pistachios, available as a PDF download and also a physical card copy with each cassette.

And just to keep you sweet, there’s also a limited bonus package available with our very own Handpicked Honey, so you can get your hands sticky as soon as the tape arrives.

The next serving from the Handpicked roster comes from Bristol beatmaker Ile Flottante, who’s Beats of a Third Kind project bridges the gap from Terra to Stellar, sending you blasting through the solar spectrum, fat caps in hand, with a broadcast of bomb beats designed for bumping in your boombox.

As well as his all original productions, the cassette-only b-side of the tape houses a recording of Ile Flo’s live set from supporting Samiyam at Stereo Cafe Bar, Glasgow, Scotland.

This one’s for the poppers, lockers, strutters and shape cutters - High Park Funk’s Overweight is a talkbox laced, synth gliding, trunk bumping stanker that we’ve dubbed onto 50 x Limited Edition Poppin’ Purple Tapes, with a couple of cassette only bonus tracks included for the physical heads and double sided dubbing for extended listening. 

An avid b-boy and active member of the poppin’ community, Tesko, aka High Park Funk, has been honing his craft for some time now representing Dimestop Poppers and Playboyz Inc, and has more recently turned his hand to translating his knowledge of dance floor theory to the art of composing his own back seat bumpers, encompassing vocoders, synthesizers and samplers to orchestrate a true homage to funk gone by.

The self-titled release from the duo weaves through percussively primal emotions, touching on free jazz style expressions in a nonchalant effort of yin and yang as one half sings symphonies whilst the other construct’s their musical context.
