Hober select edits and remixes

A lament  about the state of affairs at the beginning of the Reagan years. 

With respect, I cut and rearranged it extensively, keeping what I felt were still the most relevant lyrics for 2013.
Although there were a number of short instrumental parts later in the track, there was  literally no clean loop for the introduction so I had to create one by cutting and splicing small grabs from the main body of the tune and reconstructing a series of instrumental loops for this purpose. 

The structure of the original is introduction _ poem _ song. 
I rearranged this using the song parts as a chorus with the selected poem parts as a form of verse in between, and attempted to keep true to the flow and build of the original. Not too heavy but still to the point. 

Added some extra drums for more stomp, some subtle effects and layering of bass sections. Moved the tempo up to 107. Hope you enjoy it!

5 dollar disco at it's best, the original is a great tune you should pick up if you find it. It's off the 1983 Flute Juice album. 
I wanted to make a freaked out version though that held off on the hook until well into the tune, as well as playing on the drums more. 
I also cut and interpolated parts of the reprise version (also off the LP) into the top, as well as added effects and some extra sounds in some parts. I tried to be respectful of the excellent original while also making my fantasy crazy dub version of this (it doesn't exist on a 12 as far as I know).

The "tribute to the parrot" is in reference to the awesome bird on the inner sleeve that I get to see every time I play the record. Hope you like it :)

Rainbow Team - Bite The Apple (Hober Mallow Dub The Apple Edit)

A relatively unknown Curtis tune. A basic edit, I've just extended and played on the outro more, it needed an extension, the 45 of this is far too short. It really starts to get goooooooing, and then fades out. Its fast and funky. I included a DJ friendly intro and outro as well. Jam!

Curtis Mayfield - Breakin In The Streets (Lac's Edit)

This tune has been a favourite of mine for a long time with more funk/soul sets, since it was featured in a BGP compilation many moons back. I recently found the original 45 of it though, which features an instrumental on the flip, so I couldn't resist making a quick edit that emphasises the better parts. Thats it basically :)

HOBER MALLOW - COOL BIRDS

It's a great og I just wanted to do a freestyle kind of remix of it emphasising the spacier synth parts and less on the vocal. Keep the pressure on the groove. 
Interesting side note, Tina Weymouth (of Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club)'s sister Laura co-produced this.

This is an idea I worked on about 7 years back, then forgot and moved on. Back with fresh ears and tighter editing. If you want to dance flute style to yello then its right there.

The original is ridiculously good and you should buy it, but it's also quite long for modern dancefloor attention spans so I made this dub edit using various parts of it plus some extra vocal bits and locked it at 118. Spot the sample. Thanks for the support everyone :)

Shina Williams and His African Percussionists - Agboju Logun (Hober Mallow edit)

A rework of a 1978 b-side tune by London's Hi Tension. The original is one of my favourite downtempo boogie tunes, I wanted to to do an updated broken beat remix of this, pushing the tempo up as much as is respectful,  and make an extended edit. I also tried to add some newer production elements, cutting it up in a hip hop sampling style and work in a dub/reggae disco flavor and towards the tail.Hope you like it.
