Basel’s Timnah joins our series with a long-anticipated recording from last year’s inaugural pe:rsona, an intimate gathering from the minds at Positive Education. Over the years Timnah has established a reputation for expansive and visionary selections without equal, lending her voice to the beloved Amentia and A Walking Contradiction collectives and leading audiences into captivating unknowns worldwide. Recorded live in the French countryside at the peak of summer, Timnah’s set smolders with delicate tension, lacing outward like tendrils upon shattering glass. A veritable staple of the Japanese scene and founder of the Protection label, Haruka joins our series with two hours of delightful, liquiform groove recorded live from Kyoto. Expansive yet dialed in with tireless precision, Haruka’s set transitions between eyes-down introspection and buoyant, infectious energy with ease. To witness this level of craft enveloped by such a warm and vibrant aura is an absolute pleasure, and it’s easy to imagine oneself suspended weightless in Haruka’s element. Thank you Haruka!

Whether for the dancefloor or for introspective listening, her selections are always guided by a distinct emotional depth, weaving intricate sonics with a healthy dose of psychedelia for good measure. 

Exploring the inspiration for this flawless session, Sybil describes it as:

Closing sets come with built-in pressure. But at this year’s Perpendicular Festival, Saturday wrapped up not with spectacle, but with style. Valencia-based DJ and producer Facundo, a standout discovery from the city’s ever-surprising scene, took control of the final stretch with a set that was patient, fluid, and full of character. It moved with intent, keeping the energy alive without ever pushing too hard. The kind of set that made you forget the time, anchored in rhythm and shaped by subtle shifts. A groove that spoke softly but hit deep.

Facundo’s approach to the closing slot was a slow reveal. He opened with broken, syncopated patterns before sliding seamlessly into a tight four-to-the-floor pulse. The tension built with restraint - dark, shadowy techno moments came and went, but the release was never forced. This was a set that traded hype for nuance, showmanship for control. Polyrhythmic elegance in the woods.

After an extended pause for much needed rest and slow reflection, the Patterns of Perception crew is excited to return to our mix series with fresh energy and a stellar new mix from Jasmin, aka softi (@jazz_brown). 

Soulful, breezy and groove-laden, softi's Patterns of Perception 122 shimmers with her kaleidoscopic, minimal sound. Weightless sparks float and flicker in dim light. Time dilates; seasons drift.

A few thoughts from Jasmin:

Hey Jasmin, how’s it going? What's been happening for you lately?
I’m well, I’m currently living between Lisbon and London this summer which has been a dream! Great food, beach sessions and writing music. It’s been a wild 3 months and I’m just getting myself ready for the seasons changing!

What can you tell us about your mix?
For this mix I wanted to mould my love of groovy minimal and psychedelic tones for the moody season ahead, which is usually my signature sound! I have been producing a lot of this recently and some of my unreleased bits are exclusively inside 💜

⁠Is there a track or tracks that are extra special for you?
I’d probably say my own productions are the special to me as it reminds me of how much I have developed as a producer and artist. I love connecting with the tracks and being able to create my own atmospheric world for listeners to get lost in. But one track that I always come back to is "bluep" by Underground City Loop (a producer from Aus). I have been playing this track for years and it has every sonic element you'd want from a track - low end sub groove with dark melodic synths.

caroune  (@caroune-dem) is a London-based DJ and the co-founder of Osmura (@osmura) record label, event and mix series. Her versatile sound blends downtempo, dubstep, percussive techno and drum&bass creating immersive, sensorial journeys filled with wonder and uplifting energy. For the past two years, Caroune has played at underground venues in London, Paris and Brussels as well as European Festivals. She will be hosting her next Osmura night at Ormside Projects in London this month where she will be playing alongside international artists. This year, her label launched its first vinyl release with UK-based talent, Sub Basics, and a new VA will be announced soon.

Note: This set has been recorded live in September 2025 at Ouroboros festival in France. I played on Sunday afternoon (my favourite slot!), it was raining so I tried to lift the mood with some dubstep, warm percussion, and deep bass notes. The crowd really connected with the sound and slowly started dancing under the rain...

Yoshitaka Shirakura (@user-309855222) is a Tokyo-based DJ and event organizer specializing in Techno, Ambient, and Avant-garde music. Since 2015, he has been actively booking avant-garde live performances at dance parties, bridging genres and expanding musical perspectives. In 2019, he began performing solo drone live sets using a bass guitar. Since 2022, he has also been performing live hardware sets.

Florian aka MORDIO (@mordiomusic) is a Berlin-based music producer and teacher. With years of experience in the field, he is known for his rich sound design in both groovy primal instinct techno and soft meditative texture-based ambient. Alongside his music, he shares his knowledge with the world through online tutorials and courses.

Author's note: It's evening. Guitar, TORSO S4 sampler, SOMA Cosmos pedal. Incense. Candle. Everything on my desk in front of me. I breathe. I connect. I press record. The guitar melody loops, slightly offset, until it becomes a texture placed into a space so vast it transforms into a drone. Here the journey begins. I let go of consciousness and become the medium. No control just intuition. Textures recorded throughout the year, moments from my life, atmospheres. Blended with effects and soundscapes that ease me into meditation. After an hour, I come back. It is what it is. Fully improvised. Left as is. I hope it brings you down in these stressful times.
