David Iriarte and Carles Rocamora are Iro Aka, born and raised in Barcelona, and living between Barcelona and Ámsterdam. Their music is defined as eclectic and hypnotic, including a huge range of tempos and broken beats, inspired by IDM, techno, trance and breakbeat classics.

They’ve released their unique productions in labels such as Hivern Discs or Elephant Gait Music. Expect one hour of delightful ambient and IDM atmospheres.

Barcelona and Amsterdam based producers and DJ duo Iro Aka is taking control of episode 24 of Polychrome Radio.

When visual artist and friend Gerard Musquera shares music with us it usually means something special, and introducing us to David and Carles’ catalogue definitely was. We fell in love with their sound which covers a wide spectrum from IDM to Techno while keeping a deep and hypnotic touch that makes it unique and recognisable at first listen. Meeting David for the first time during our June De School gathering simply confirmed that Iro Aka deeply shared the vision, values and mindset that make Polychrome, and laid the basis for a friendship both on and off the dance floors.

When harmony in sound and passion ties  two artists, it leads to beautiful results. David and Carles are in sync, and living in two different cities did not get in the way of their vision and work ethic. We keep on being amazed by the level of consistency in their creative process, from their already rich catalogue, latest critically acclaimed (and simply incredible) Planet Earth album on @hivern_disc , to their super well curated and executed selections. It forces the attention.

Iro Aka transports us in a tunnel of hypnotism and deep psychedelia carried by polyrhythms, floating subtle melodies and acid sounds. This recording perfectly captures the duo’s psilocybine infused sound, driving and mind opening. A real trip that we are so happy to share with you. Enjoy 🍄

"Arriving into Temple, already dipped into the most sacred silence and the most daring sounds, not seeing but feeling the familiar faces and expert listeners was somehow intimidating, but also encouraging and exciting. I had prepared a hybrid live set, djing several recordings and reviewed old tracks i compiled through the year, on preparation of another live set for Mostra, and a sp404+FX full of sounds, sampled movies, sequences and patterns to fill the gaps and refill the most dance-oriented moments of the set so there could be a little more entropy and fun.

The idea was the "interruptus' vibe where full dances would be difficult but the movement and weird hand twists would arrive through extra filterings, complex pseudo beats and dub passages of the set.

The sound and gear at Espacio Perpendicular are also intimidating for those of us not used to such definition, so the experience was even more brilliant. Doing lo-fi processes into a hi-fi system is such bless.

Ronny Pinazza (@ronny_pinazza) tries to convey the feeling of the infinite timelessness of the soul of nature with music in an understandable language. His DJ sets are always driving, ritualistic. Natural sounds and hypnotic melodies allow the listener to reach another state of consciousness. His productions are experimental, unorthodox. Hypnotic rhythms and driving beats characterize his tracks, always filled with natural sounds. The listener is transported in a space that seems to exist between the stars. Deep in his heart he believes in infinity and that time and space are only imaginations. His goal is to express these inner feelings with music, so in 2021 he set out to develop his musical language. Ronny Pinazza has released 2 EPs on Cellar Door records, EP and single on MDivision Group Records. Collaborated on VAs on Indefinite Pitch, Initiate Records, Free Palestine Charity VA, Linee Sonore. "Aqua", exposes you to the slow churning of the marine blue sea, engulfing us until we are unable to feel the bottom and vortexing sands.

The time has come to reflect on some of the standout performances from this year’s remarkable Mostra Festival. There were some program adjustments, and new stages were added compared to last year. We had more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors around and inside the Castell De Montjuï. Thursday at the Hangar provided a perfect opening, a special day for all of us who cherish ambient, experimental, and obscure music. The Pati stage at the Castell De Montjuïc was a brilliant addition and hit the mark perfectly.

But let's start from the end with the festival's closing set, the grand finale. The Mostra crew meticulously planned the lineup, giving the honor of closing this magical extended weekend to one of their residents - Timnah. Given the high caliber of talent at Mostra, ending the festival on a high note was no simple task. Yet, what we witnessed (and what you will hear in this recording) was a masterful set from a DJ who truly knows her craft.

Following an impressive performance by Rrose, Timnah took the stage with a flawlessly curated techno set. 

In this musical laboratory, Timnah was an alchemist, deftly mixing familiar elements with a slightly more energetic twist than usual. For the first 30 minutes, she kept the base simmering at a low “fire,” allowing the atmosphere to build gradually before adding multiple layers of hypnotic, high-energy elements that electrified the dancefloor. 
The result was an exhilarating and dynamic performance, making it one of the most memorable highlights of this year’s Mostra Festival.

EMC welcomes Joan Gila!

Joan Gila, a vinyl enthusiast, is the curator of @hoc-radio and also manages a small cassette label focused on ambient, avant-garde, and experimental music called @red-edge-label. He is part of the duo @binomi with his friend @slim-jordi.
This DJ set was recorded in Madrid at the Temple event, curated by @machines-desirantes and @javier-camunas, which takes place at @espacio-perpendicular, an intimate venue with exquisite sound. This particular set is Temple 03 featuring @hardcore-chillout, and it's an exercise in mixing and merging an older record from around the 80s with a new one, playing with them in such a way that the listener doesn’t know where they are.

E.M.C. atmospheres - Joan Gila (vinyl set)

In just three editions, Mostra Festival has achieved what many events aspire to but rarely reach – consistently bringing out the best in the artists who perform. Part of this success is due to perfectly matching the music to the specific time slots and settings. Following Sybil's meticulously timed and skillfully executed mix, the responsibility of closing the "day portion" at the Foso stage was assigned to one of Amsterdam's finest exports, Konduku. 

While many anticipated his signature polyrhythmic brain dance style, a great DJ knows how to read the moment and adapt accordingly. Konduku delivered a quirky, minimal techno set that had us bopping against Castell's walls the entire time. The set never lost its momentum, with unexpected synth stabs and a flurry of mid-high percussion adding a delightfully offbeat twist to the steady four-on-the-floor rhythm. 
It was a gloriously weird sunset, and that's a good thing.

Aa sudd has been one of the great guests who have passed through Klub Collective. 

The German, who is in top form, made us dance non-stop in a set of great avant-garde techno, masterfully combining rhythms, atmospheres and hypnotism.
