After almost a decade immersed in a project focused on the dance floor, Álvaro Aragonés moved to Berlin where he began a new career, relaxed in bpms, where eclecticism and avant-garde prevail. It is in 2016 when he self-releases his debut album “A Place To Be”. Once the project took shape, it is the Navarrese label Sofa Tunes who trusts Daar (@daar_music) releasing his first EP in cassette format "Quetzal". 2018 means the Daar's international debut with an EP-Split  on the Indonesian label “Tandem Tapes”. Finally, 2019 was the year of the project confirmation thanks to an artistic residency at Konvent, working and creating his first live called BORDERS, a project which was born from the homonymous EP released in 12" by F&S Records. 2020 due to the months lived, the result was a studio album that was released last March 2021 by the reputed and prestigious Silent Season label.

Glyn Maier is a sound artist and field recordist living in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. Non-city outdoor spaces are essential to Maier’s practice. With a formal education in physics and
music composition, Maier’s preoccupations with natural objects, landscapes, and their social histories guide his recordings, which are then integrated into electronic works utilizing organic rhythms and complex timbres. Maier’s abstract synthesis work is deeply informed by sound design, but his larger focus is on the agency of both machine and environment. Another facet of Maier’s sonic practice is enmossed, the label he founded in 2017. Dedicated to contemporary sound, all profits are donated to positive causes of the artist’s choice, and materials for the tapes and records are hand-constructed out of recycled materials. Its catalogue is distributed internationally by shops such as Boomkat (UK), Rope Editions (Korea), and Tobira Records (Japan).

About the mix
The backbone of the mix is a segment of a longer vinyl DJ set I recorded utilizing a +/- 50% pitch range between two turntables recorded live on Halloween 2022. With an aim towards stretching sounds and favoring extended blends of tracks, the crossroads of fall and winter/past and future were melded into one, on a night deemed especially conducive to the intertwining of material and spirit.

That recording has found a new life through a dialogue with doris dana. In addition to editing the mix to fit the time-constraints of a radio program, dana also added live improvisations, dialogue snippets, and a few additional tracks.  dana has elevated this mix into a perennial listen, seasons stacked in superposition. The wheel is always turning, but this mix may place us at its hub for a moment.

Artists included in this edit of the vinyl mix include: Arthur Russell, RJ Miller Trio, Gossiwor, Sam McClellan, Brent Snyder, Cupol, Glyn Maier, Javier Segura, Harold Budd, Tapiolan Yhteiskoulun Kuoro, Eliane Radigue, Steve Roach and Tarawangsawelas.

"After reaching the meander they parked the canoe. The sign indicated they were close, the teepee was next to the wisp of smoke that jutted out behind the ceiba tree. They moved closer, the shaman had been waiting for them for a long time. 1h. Bitterness and sweat. Waiting for the Phase change. The sound of the mosquitoes, the embers and the wind have turned into acid pulsations. Hypnotised by an imaginary wave of vibrations inside their head. Dancing in circles, the flame moves now as downtempo."

MR TC (@mrtcmusic) and Lo Kindre (@lokindre) are electronic music producers from Glasgow. They have released music individually on labels like Optimo Music (@optimo-music), 12th isle (@12th-isle)and Against Fascism Trax and together on Neubau (@neubauwien) and their own Phase Group (@phasegroup) label. They founded Phase Group records with the release of their collaborative EP ‘PHASE001’ and since then the label has become a home for leftfield electronic music by artists like Andria (@androan97) and Carcass Identity. The label has gathered wide ranging support from record stores and DJs across Europe and with a busy release schedule lined up in 2021 the future of the imprint is looking exciting.
