Sint Maarten is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Dutch Caribbean.

Sint Maarten consists of the southern part of the Caribbean island of St. Martin and several small, uninhabited islands and rocks (Guana Key, Cow & Calf, Hen & Chickens, Molly Beday, and Pelican Key). The northern part of the island is occupied by the French overseas territory of Saint Martin. Sint Maarten is not part of the Schengen Area.

Belgium is a federal state in Western Europe. It lies between the North Sea and the Ardennes and borders the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and France. As of January 1, 2022, Belgium had around 11.6 million inhabitants in an area of ​​30,688 square kilometers. The north of the country with the Flemish is a Dutch-speaking area, the south with the Walloons is a French-speaking area (see Flemish and French communities). The Flemish-Walloon conflict, which has been ongoing since the 19th century, has shaped the often conflicting interests of representatives of the two major population groups in Belgian politics. Language legislation is a consequence of this conflict. Since the 1970s, attempts have been made to address this problem by decentralizing the state organization. For this purpose, Belgium was transformed into a federal state consisting of three regions and three communities. The regions of Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels Capital as well as the Flemish, French and German-speaking communities have since formed the basic political structure of the country. Belgium's state structure is considered complex because, among other things, the territories of the regions do not coincide with those of the communities. The responsibilities of the French and Flemish communities overlap in the officially bilingual Brussels-Capital region, and the small area of ​​the German-speaking Community belongs to the predominantly French-speaking Wallonia region. However, the German-speaking community is aiming to be separated from Wallonia and become the fourth Belgian region with equal rights alongside Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels-Capital.

Belgium is a founding member of the European Economic Community (EEC), now the European Union (EU), whose main institutions are based in its capital, Brussels. The Belgian state is a member of the Benelux Economic Union alongside the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Since the 2000s, Belgium has developed into a very wealthy country in Europe. The country's central geographical location gives it a strategic advantage in international trade, supported by well-developed infrastructure such as the port of Antwerp. As a founding member of the European Union, Belgium benefited from political and economic integration, particularly through the introduction of the euro in 2002. The country also invested in research and development, which strengthened its innovative strength.

Togo is a country in West Africa, located on the Gulf of Guinea, bordering Ghana to the west, Benin to the east, and Burkina Faso to the north. Lomé is the capital and seat of government.

Togo's territory encompasses the eastern part of the German colony of Togo, which existed from 1884 to 1916. From 1916 to 1960, Togo was a League of Nations mandate territory and a United Nations trust territory under French administration. The autocratic President Gnassingbé Eyadéma dominated the country for almost 40 years. After his death in 2005, the army appointed his son, Faure Gnassingbé, as the new president, in violation of the constitution. International pressure and unrest in the country did not lead to a return to constitutionality. Gnassingbé won the subsequent elections, although the opposition and the European Union accused him of massive electoral fraud. Several thousand refugees remain abroad. Togo has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations since 2022.

According to the Standing Committee on Geographical Names, the name for citizens of Togo is "Togoer" or "Togoerin." However, the Duden dictionary also lists the common form "Togolese" or "Togolesin."
