Intercept welcomes 'De School' regular Tsepo back to the label with his signature percussive club sound.

After 2023's 'Something Bubbly / There You Go' 'Basic Grooves' is his most stripped-back work yet. The EP features two tracks with a distinctive flow, bringing a sense of playfulness and fun. Inspired by a wide range of genres, both songs have been doing their rounds in clubs, and we're sure this is just the start of something special. We're happy to have Jan back with another magnificent EP.

In the midst of the chaotic world brought forth by the global pandemic, a digital connection was forged, and the sonic explorers known as MXC emerged from the shadows. Maroki and Coralie, two enigmatic figures with a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of their own sound, embarked on a collaborative journey. Walking a tightrope between introspective club music and avant-garde experimental recordings, MXC effortlessly blur the lines, transcending genre limitations with their distinctive sound.

This year their works ‘Etait Une’ and ‘Tuna B’ land on Who’s Susan, repelling them deep into bass and breaks territory.

May the percussion be crisp and the kicks roll deep, Susan’s ready for 2024 so please don’t sleep.

Deep within the freeway buzz of dystopian Los Angeles, there exists an unstoppable sonic gathering of minds, who call themselves “Fast At Work” and abide by a belief in the deeper potential of higher tempos. However, lately there has been some debate about the true existence of the Fast At Work mantra. Just as the debate was reaching its climax, seemingly out of nowhere, a helicopter emerged containing a musical capsule from the future (or possibly aliens). The group accepted this music as scripture, and coined it “Soft Fascination,” – naming group member Carré as their chosen matriarch. Through the title hymn “Soft Fascination,” Carré preached a proto vision of a classic dubstep bassline and tender pads. With “Cute Mad,” Carré magically induced a sense of positivity and bubbly bass. And with the third offering, “Glowing,” she pushed her audience closer to understanding simplicity and space. Finally, in an effort to expand their gospel to the furthest realms of their musical world, she recruited Priori and James Bangura to create their own missions, rooted in the original offerings of the alien helicopter’s capsule disc. While Priori expertly rearranged “Soft Fascination” into a shiny mind-melter, James Bangura expanded on the lightness of “Glowing,” creating his own lucid dreamscape of deep melancholia.

FAW001: Carré - Soft Fascination EP w/ Priori + James Bangura Remixes

Following his 2021 debut on the reverse label with Retreat Ites EP and a spot on the Molten Mirrors compilation, Jurango is back on Livity Sound with another four tracks of low-slung soundsystem pressure. 

On An Amorphous Mass EP Jurango presents a particularly focused sound which draws on halftime D&B, dancehall and broken techno all filtered through the meditative pulse of low tempo club music. The measured pace of the tracks doesn’t detract from their weight, whether it manifests in the heavy roll of murky opener ‘Big Saver’, ‘Inner Seam’s mutant dembow rhythm or the heady breakbeat chops of the title track. The stripped-back subs and fractured percussion of ‘Muni Ce Boa’ close the record in potent yet understated style, proving minimal music doesn’t have to compromise on impact for the dance.

INGI (@leshlingi) returns to Scuffed Recordings with four new intricately-crafted club tracks on his Shaker EP.

Icelandic-born, London-based INGI first appeared on Scuffed in 2022 with his Fade EP, an exploration of breaks, percussion and bass weight which saw support from the likes of object blue, Surgeon, Breaka, and Manami.

Since then, INGI has honed his skills as an artist and DJ, as a co-founder of London party and label Elastics, and resident at “your favourite festival’s favourite festival” Floorless. INGI’s sound is a love letter to the London and Manchester scenes that he came up in, flitting between UK club influences but impossible to pin down to one sound alone.
