Hold The Lettuce may have a distaste for salad greens, but his sophisticated palate for funk was acquired at an early age. Growing up in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Justin Fandrich picked up the bass guitar in junior high and played local shows in bands until his mid-twenties. Swapping the bass for wheels of steel – and a witty stage name - he started DJing in 2017 and dabbling in production in 2020. 

In a world immersed in stillness, Hold The Lettuce’s versatility keeps him moving forward. Spinning a mash up of funky, glitch hop his beats are flavourful with good vibes thanks to a selection of effervescent tracks and sly heavy elements. A healthy dose of bangers are in store for everyone in the vicinity of his flow, sprinkled with a bit of booty-shaking enjoyment.   

Hold The Lettuce intuitively works the room with a creative mixing style. Inspired and taught by his best friend and DJ TOAST, he is influenced by like the likes of Stickybuds, K Lab, Megan Hamilton, Father Funk, and more. 

“Music to me is a universal language we can all understand and use to convey emotions to each other,” he says. “We may not speak the same, but we can all feel the same beat.”

Now residing in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, Hold The Lettuce has played Electric Sky Music Festival 2018 and 2019, Bass In The Bush Music Festival 2019, Glitchmas (an annual show in Medicine Hat) 2017, 2018, and 2019. He is currently working on his first EP.
