Influential house label Holic Trax is launching a new sub series here with a debut EP from Ivan Iacobucci entitled Monoklo 1.
The sub label, also call Monoklo, will showcase a deeper, darker house sound that focusses on the dance floor and sees all material selected by the boss, Tomoki Tamura.
Behind this first EP is Italian Ivan Iacobucci, who has been producing since the ‘90s on Nite
Grooves, King Street, Smoke Joke and many others. Influenced by everything from jazz to Detroit techno, afro cuban beats to pure funk, he has a truly fresh approach to sound.
Up first, ‘Router’ is a deep, bubbly house track with corrugated drums and dusty hi hats.
Spooky synths add a sense of space and depth and it’s an intimate way to kick off the EP.
‘Anorak’ is another deep cut with warm and cuddly vibes pervading to bubbly, soft edge drums and captivating rhythms. Filled with organic textures and rich with a human feel, the cut sucks you right in from the off.
Vinyl only cut, ‘De Mai Sus’ then rocks back and forth with deep, bubbly basslines, streaming sci-fi melodies and kinetic percussive patterns that are subtle but that really bring the funk. 
All analogue sounding and dynamic from the ground up, it’s a spaced out and emotive house cut that will make you feel as well as dance.
Buy the EP digitally and you will get bonus roller ‘Stakhanovite’, but either way this is an essential and classy way to start a new series.

Veritable giants of the underground house scene, Kastis Torrau and Donatello are masters of their craft. With the "Genesis" EP, the duo provided a landmark moment with a stunning debut EP for Proton Music. As we now return to the twin-track offering. Two high-profile remixes UK and US producers see "Ida" transformed.

Barry Jamieson's name is writ large throughout the history of dance music. UK born but now operating from his New Jersey studio, the Grammy nominated US based producer is responsible for a plethora of projects that have shaped a generation. Responsible for mixing all of Sasha's music since 2003, Jamieson's work alongside Charlie May and Sasha himself over a number of years, saw tracks that included the era-defining "Xpander" alongside the genre-defining "Involver" albums. A studio engineer and technical visionary of global renown, regular appearances on film and TV including the ever-popular, "CSI" add further to a stellar reputation.

A hugely-respected producer and engineer under his own name and soubriquets including the celebrated, Evolution, Jamieson's work for Kyubu, Golden Wings and microCastle has been a revelation with the latter accounting for a host of high-profile remixes of DNYO, Ricky Ryan and Cid Inc. Furthermore, Jamieson's own Circular Sound Recordings has been a successful vehicle for his music as the monthly Circular Sound show on Proton Radio showcases the very best in underground club sounds that fill airwaves and dance floors. Making his very welcome debut on Proton Music, the Barry Jamieson remix of "Ida" is a deliciously evolving piece that cleverly integrates elements of the original while supplying legion additional production, not least by a smooth, rich bass line that is the perfect counterpoint to Torrau and Donatello's bass. Textured pads and a 303-tinged lead reach their zenith at the breakdown before a brash, bold beat hypnotises once more in the third and fourth movements in a work that is yet another showcase for Jamieson's ever-expanding talents.

A man very much a product of the modern dance industry, Darin Epsilon's rise to the upper echelons of the underground scene has been nothing short of meteoric. Hailing from Chicago but now firmly ensconced in the vibrant 'city of angels', Los Angeles based Epsilon has made a significant name for himself via his "Perspectives" empire. Both a hugely successful radio show with thousands of listeners and an important label with a multitude of followers and supporters, Darin Epsilon is a force to be reckoned with. Over 2 million Soundcloud plays are testament to this support as are regular DJ performances across his homeland and on a global stage alongside the likes of Cattaneo, Warren, Digweed and Sasha.

Darin Epsilon's production career is no less impressive as a host of blue chip labels play host to his music including Sudbeat, Hope, Perfecto and Black Hole. Over a century of credits can also be found on his own Perspectives digital through an array of original and remix production material as Cid Inc., Petar Dundov and Quivver have all lined up to reinterpret his work. Making a welcome debut on Proton Music, the Darin Epsilon remix of "Ida" takes the elements so central to the original, intelligently reworking them into a delicate, hypnotic offering that reinterprets Torrau and Donatello's work with immaculate precision and attention to detail. The result is a work that bristles with instantly recognisable dance floor dynamism.

With a 24 carat reputation within the underground dance industry, Filip Kaczmarek's jewel-encrusted career shows no sign of abating as his Kobana production soubriquet continues to make its presence felt. A true friend of the Proton Music imprint, we are delighted to announce another original 3-track offering in the shape of the stunning, "Boyhood" EP.

An artist whose constantly evolving sound continues to make waves within the underground community, the Kobana sound is a rare example that sees his music retain a distinct and unique character, instantly recognisable through his melodic majesty and percussive flair. Able to combine the two elements with consummate ease and unmistakable signature audio, the trademark Kobana production sound has evolved over a painstaking process of self-taught techniques and reverse-engineering, which has, in turn, led to a number of high-calibre sample packs that give a unique insight into the mind of a production icon.

A regular on some of the finest imprints within the industry, a catalogue of original and remix work has found its way onto the likes of Spring Tube, Lowbit and Anjunadeep. Indeed, "All Those Loose Things" and "Whoosh" with co-producer, Yane3dots, for the latter in 2011 and 2012, ably illustrate the depth and pedigree of Kobana's music over a sustained period.

Seventy production credits for the Particles and Proton Music imprints only serve to highlight the importance we place in Kaczmarek's music since 2010 debuts with Mario Hatchet provided a glimpse into a bright new future. Thus, it is with 2014's debut full-length debut album that Kobana made an indelible stamp in the world of underground house with "The Riddle". The thirteen-track offering showcased Kobana's no inconsiderable talent across a variety of styles and genres going on to see a raft of remixes from the likes of Marc Poppcke and Derek Howell. Subtly shifting direction to the deep and tech house arenas via his, "Freefall" EP in August 2015, Kobana now continues this rich vein of form in the summer of 2016 with "Boyhood", lighting up the aural synapses in vivid technicolour. 

Opening track "Anna" is wonderfully emotive offering that delights through open filtered melodies that flow intriguingly in hypnotic fashion, entwined with a deep kick, rich percussive fluidity and subtle vocal touches. The resultant work is a joy to behold. "LoHi" revels in intricate percussive groove as a 909-style clap makes its presence felt cutting through the mid-frequencies with ease. A deliciously evolving melodic sequence finds itself allied to a locked groove in typical Kobana fashion as an unexpected key change in the third movement keeps suspense high. Final track, "Together", is a slice of pure house joy. Summery piano chords make for a sprightly opening as a complex bass line and carefully placed vocal phrases put the listener in mind of Discloure and the modern UK house scene. A supremely confident work, "Together" is certain to find favour with the dance floors of Europe and beyond.

A new 3-track offering sees the Kobana sound reaching full maturity through his "Boyhood" EP.
