Ride Sally Ride tells the story of America's First Lady Astronaut who went to space on June 18, 1983. This song is one queer woman's imagining of another queer woman's moment of truth in space leading to her coming out back on Earth. 💫🚀🌈

She was bigger than her fear

She was at home in her skin way up here

This queer jazz ballad was inspired by the idea of wanting to explore the interior of the landscape of someone else's internal thoughts and daydreams.... when you are with someone who is often somewhere else in their mind, and you imagine what that place looks like. I was spending a lot of time by the sea lately, so that landscape also informed my sound for this song. The genre is folky jazz pop - most similar to the artist Norah Jones. It is self-recorded and self-produced through my label, The Female Gayze. For anyone who has fallen for a daydreamer.

It's playful with playground and amusement park vibes, cause that's how the hate feels - childish. The most empowering response is "na na na na Boo Hoo". I want to challenge and tease the listener. It was produced as part of my debut studio album "Transcend" by my indie queer femme label - Female Gayze Music - with an 88% queer & 66% female and non-binary team.
