Director Richard Donner Recalls Getting Composer John Williams to Score Iconic Superman Original Score

Man of Steel is a huge success all over the world. Audiences seem to love the retelling of Superman. But one thing missing from the film is a good music score. In the original 1978 Superman movie, a major character in the film (that was seen but not heard), was the score to the movie, which was composed and written by legendary composer John Williams.  To this day, the iconic Superman theme song is frequently heard worldwide at sporting events and other places.

We spoke to Richard Donner and his good friend, the late Tom Mankiewicz, who helped write the film.  They explained the behind the scenes story of how they got John Williams to write the score and theme to Superman, which starred the late great Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, and Gene Hackman.
