BLEND (DJ) - Episode 03 - Balcony Set

This track started from a MRKTS song about the deep feeling of missing someone, to the point where life felt less meaningful. During a Hollywood Principle writing retreat, “Writers Block,” Alex and Isaiah (A.I.) brought the initial version of this song. Together, we transformed it into what it is now. The track’s vocals had a strong, anthemic quality, and we quickly settled on its current form as a stutter house track with a powerful anthem vibe.

When Monstercat got involved, Conro joined the project, helping us refine the lyrics to better capture the excitement of meeting someone new who changes your life instantly. Working with Conro was a great experience. He brought a lot of respect for the song's original feel and added his insights to make the lyrics resonate more widely.

The song, "Take Me Away," is a celebration in the form of an anthemic stutter house track. It expresses the joy of new love and the transformative power of connection.

As its title foreshadows, Hollywood Principle's "Breathing Underwater" sounds like it takes place in an underwater paradise. The lush synth trickles and sensuous vocals both remind again of Little Dragon, with the serene development and key-laden beauty also reminiscent of Hikaru Utada -- and aquatically-minded electro-pop tracks of hers like "Colors", specifically. Just a minute in, a whirring arpeggio of sorts leads a marvelous build-up, which shows itself as a full-bodied force to reckon with around the 01:20 mark. The track's second half carries over the extremely engaging atmosphere, with the arpeggiated-led build-up being even more spine-tingling the second time around. "Breathing Underwater" is a phenomenal track from a supremely talented pop group that is rising rapidly.

“We have been working with Al3jandro as our vocal producer since we started Hollywood Principle” says Kayla Hope. “He suggested telling a story that comes from two people, with opposite perspectives, and we ran with it.
