2015 is proving to be a busy year for George Papadopoulos (aka Hior Chronik), whose third full-length album ‘Taking The Vail’ (Kitchen. Label) and collaborative double-vinyl project with Arovane ‘In-between’ (A Strangely Isolated Place) are due to be released within the year. ‘The First Ray’ (Sun Sea Sky Productions) sees Hior Chronik collaborating with prolific Grecian electronica artist Mikaël Delta, and kicks off a semi-regular series of collaborations from the artist on the imprint.

Drones and ambient fields drench this release with an emotional frequency full of strength, inner treasures and awakening - creating an exquisite recording that attempts to transcend the temporal or physical, replacing these instead with the light of consciousness.

Ricardo Donoso has composed a new paradigm of ambient music, in which concrete textures and digital synthesis expand on an abstract world in constant movement & mutation. Under a chain of progressive rhythm’s, cinematic textures and elegant melodicism, Donoso’s work pushes through with piercing strength, manipulating a sonic wave through space with nothing but pulse and mind blowing intensity.
Although Donoso’s work has coalesced into a much broader and dynamic beast, his early work continues to be a source of inspiration. ‘Symmetry’ now compiles Donoso’s first three albums, lovingly referred to as the “Digitalis Trilogy” which includes Progress Chance, Assimilating the Shadow and As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Verse Sharpens Another in a deluxe 4LP boxset & 3CD edition.
A truly entrancing journey of polyrhythmic counterpoint, the ‘Symmetry’ collection takes in influence from minimalist composers such as Reich & Riley, early techno and trance, and lush and deeply harmonic ambient music. It’s possible to look at the ‘Symmetry’ trilogy as a blueprint to Donoso’s later work in both its musical scope & thematic grandeur. Amidst all of its wide eyed, dreamlike states there is always a rumbling of subtle violence piercing just underneath the surface creating a truly immersive experience.

For fans of SOTL's earlier minimal drone era. This Lost recording from 1997 of a remix of Stars of the Lid's Twin Peaks Episide # 30 Part 1, by James Plotkin. (Commissioned for $100USD)During this particular moment, the glory days of pre-file sharing, we had been considering and gathering remixes via the post for a potential release but as many things go in the world of Lid, the idea became a bit stale. Mostly due to our own boredom. We are not sure if this thing is of any decent quality, but if you listen at low levels then the effect could possibly lead to a good nap at the very least....

After last year's sophomore release, The Faex Has Decimated, on Tympanik Audio, the Legiac project is back, but this time on the Russian based Dronarivm label, where the new album feels more at home. This time, the electronic duo of Roel Funcken and Cor Bolten take on a more meditative approach to their mildly glitch-infused, modular explored sounds, weaving in ambient textures, field recordings, and vast soundscapes. Titled after an early 15th century hand-written and illustrated codex, named after Wilfrid Voynich, the mysteries within this cryptic album can only be unlocked upon subsequent rotations, offering it up as a soundtrack to an enigmatic place, existing somewhere within imagination of these two prolific artists. The Voynich Manuscript slowly transforms its listener from a seemingly ordinary habitat, to a day-dream haze, to kaleidoscopic illusion - a sonic environment you thirst to visit once again...

So What is a spiritual, eyes-closed trip invoked by the modular synths and haunted vocals of Hibernis. Hibernis are John Hughes (Hefty Records) and Lindsay Anderson (L'altra). Also both of Same Waves (Flau). So What was the first single taken from their album for Serein, Middle Of The Meds.

Tiny Leaves - Notes on Belonging was released in 2017 and has now been reworked by a host of artists. The album, an exploration of landscapes was inspired by the Welsh term 'Cynefin'. When translated it means the environment in which you live, to which you are naturally acclimatised.
The beautiful vocals and talents of Julianna Barwick rework 'Cynefin'. An uplifting melancholia results alongside crafted sounds that envelop and delve deep into the soul, setting the tone as the first single of the highly anticipated Notes on Belonging rework album.
Other artists on the forthcoming rework album include Haiku Salut, Oscuro, Billion One and Ink Project

"Phemie’s Walk’ was written in response to the final walk Louise had with her dad Chris. It was on a remote trail in the Scottish Highlands, and the walk itself ended up at a vista overlooking the dramatic landscape below. The beautiful, yet bleak surroundings coupled with the very real and raw emotion when one is facing their own mortality, made for an incredibly bittersweet and profound memory that we wanted to capture musically."
