“Come Up” is a fun, up-tempo jam that combines jazz-fusion, boogie-funk and pop sensibilities into one congruent dance anthem to ignite the dancefloor. It’s a panoptic funk jam that’s laced with explicit fusion overtones as nuanced as the layers of rich vocoders, synths, guitars, vocals, and horns featured on the track. The positive feelings it evokes are universal, this is definitely one to get the crowd hyped or to throw on when you’re feeling yourself.

The Roswell Universe is a rotating crew of musician-cohorts from Los Angeles creating music straight from the heart. Founded in 2016, the group has pulled together collaborators and crowds alike with their improvisational blend of jazz, funk, and electronic textures. The Universe’s collision of artistic tastes and instincts is a dreamy, nostalgic state of controlled chaos, armed with a full horn section.

As an integral part of the Salted family, we are thrilled to welcome back our long time collaborators Julius Papp and Lisa Shaw with this smooth elegant single. Originally released in 2010, "Way Back" gets the remix treatment giving the song new life.

Lisa's smokey, unmistakable vocals take center stage while Mr. Papp delivers a tasty slice of soulful bliss on his remixes, infused with a generous dose of musicality, plus a Dub mix for good measure.

And on remix duty, Jarred Gallo makes his return lending his talents as he cooks up this tasteful version with a Nu-Disco forward feel. Jarred's remix takes the song into a whole new direction, with an uplifting ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of summer. We hope the music moves you!

Discobelle premiere in the house!

From our friends in grooved out/funked up/disco outfit @fsqofficial we received this alternate and extended DJ dub version of their remix for @bravobeats. The original version of the remix appears on B Bravo's "Paradise Remixed" album (also on the "Paradise Remixed" compilation album are remixes from XL Middleton, Simbad, Pillowtalk, Captain Planet, Teeko, Jaël and Grandfeather) which was recently released via the Bastard Jazz label. 

The original version of the track is a super smooth affair but the FSQ crew put in a very different "Caribbean Disco" sounding remix of the track with member GKoop spearheading the production. 

GKoop has been busy this year as the co-writer of platinum-selling hip-hop hits like "It's a Vibe" by 2Chainz and "Bad and Boujee" by Migos. Fortunately, he took time out of his hectic schedule for FSQ and brought in drummer Marquisse Moore and pianist Graham Richards to give the remix a strong dose of Borinquen flavour and highlights the percussion we peppered the mix with: woodblocks, congas, bongos, and clappers in order to make everyone dance.

Conclave is a coming together.
Conclave is con clave, a unifying rhythm that is the key to unlock dances ancient and contemporary.
Conclave is Cesar Toribio and Scott Scribner, multi-instrumentalists whose alchemy is evident in the ebb and flow of their compositions, paradoxes of the delicate and powerful inextricably woven around the rhythm.

After a dozen live shows over the past couple years, the Brooklyn-based group take their first steps on vinyl with an impassioned cover of the soul standard “Sunny,” a song whose Latin Disco pedigree makes it the perfect canvas for the Dominican+New Yorker collaborators. An ethereal gospel choir lifts Toribio’s heartfelt vocals over twining guitar and keys that gradually build and eventually bubble over to ride a churning bass line into the heavens — Paradise, in this case, being a funked-up extended instrumental jam on the groove.

Seven Davis Jr. joins the circle for a flip side remix that is nothing short of stunning. Languidly paced, the sparse mix gradually grows in intensity with an unforced charm that lends a startling drama to the entrance of the rippling bassline a full three minutes in. When the keys finally arrive like a burst of light thru the clouds, the door to the dance has been fully thrown open and the listener’s transformation from bystander to part of the conclave is complete.

The release of “Sunny” is rounded out with an acapella, available on vinyl and digital, an enticement for future collaborators, perhaps. Conclave’s debut album will touch down summer 2020, but this Most Excellent 12-inch is certain to hold you over till then, and beyond.
