These tracks took on a very different path from their original intention; they were recorded for a collaboration with the extraordinary pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn. I first met Susan in 2006, and was deeply touched by her spirit, both musically and personally. 
In September 2024 i finally got the courage to invite her for a duo, and in January 2025 i sent her
three of the tracks featured here. 
She wrote back: "really cool keyboards. Not sure what to play with them yet", to which i replied: "i hope you figure out what to play. I tried to leave space for you." 

Susan suddenly passed away a week later; i decided to continue this work as an homage to her. 
I briefly considered adding various instruments, but in the end kept the space i left for Susan, as an acknowledgement of her absent presence, just adding some organ.
The only exception is track 2, recorded after Susan's passing; the notes used for the melody are the root notes of the Nashville pedal steel guitar tuning.
Emotional matters aside, i hope that, musically, this work will do justice to my friend Susan Alcorn, April 4 1953 - January 31 2025.

HOMO is, since 1995, the vehicle for the solo work of Filipe Silva, also a member of Porto-based SOOPA Collective & the Skull Dub ensemble HHY & The Macumbas, among other musical, intermedia & teaching projects.
HOMO explores the potential of sound in its physical & physiological manifestations, namely as a tool for reconfiguring the perception of space-time; the evocative, invocative, mnemonic & devotional power of music; & the frail & uncertain balance between song structures and the innefable, transhuman architecture of Reality, the great Fourth Wall demolisher.
