Lychee (@lycheefrut) & I had a lovely time joining May's Nowadays Nonstop with an extended back-to-back, and I'm glad we're able to revisit the moment.

We wanted this set to be as fun as possible while distinctly ourselves, and I love that you can hear a bit of both of us in the recording, dancing side-by-side in one of our favorite venues and building steadily toward a euphoria of our own.

In the beginning of the 20th century modern art started to flourish. 
There was a wide range of art forms with a huge variety of movements. Impressionism, pointillism, Dadaism, expressionism, kubism, futurism, constructivism – to name a few – had an influence on painting, 
sculpture, film, literature, architecture and yes, even music. 
Although very different, these movements had one thing in common: 
a dogma. Especially later forms like De Stijl or Bauhaus had a specific 
set of rules to follow, sometimes written down in the form of a manifesto. Joining such a group meant sticking to the aesthetic standards. 
The urge to specify and later categorize art never seem to have left.
When you read interviews with Traxx it shows he has a very high moral towards music. About how it should BE…

Nowadays, radical categorization of music seems to be more important than ever. Artists are becoming afraid of diverting from a well-known stylistic path. It seems the style dictates the track, not the maker.
Traxx is a totally different story. 
although a lot of people appreciate it, we do not understand Traxx' approach to music. It’s been labelled diverse and eclectic. 
This does describe aspects of his style, but still doesn’t grasp his attitude. Traxx calls himself 'an ambassador of truth'. 
This has nothing to do with arrogance. It merely shows how significant 
it is for him to follow the innovative footsteps of his heroes. 
Nowadays, revolutionary tunes from artists such as Ron Hardy, 
Larry Levan and Larry Heard have been analyzed and classified aesthetically and that’s exactly where it goes wrong. 
It was never about the sound of jack, it was the way they used 
tracks in order to tell a musical story through their sets. 
Traxx understands that as no other. 
His truth is sometimes dramatic, sometimes euphoric, sometimes high energy, sometimes deep, sometimes easy and sometimes esoteric but always unpredictable!

For our 51st episode of FRiends and Family, we're thrilled to host a brilliant recording of a two hour set by @nathanielyoung who makes music and DJs as Guilt Attendant. Nathaniel runs the @uxz label alongside @lycheefrut , and they are also a brilliant designer, working as the creative director for @daisrecords (check out the insane Juno X merch collaboration between Dais and @rolandcom on their website linked below!!). This is two hours of techno as both escape and resistance, recorded live, March 7th, 2024, at Mansions in NYC for the UXZ-03 release party and label night a few weeks ago. For the 61st entry of the Honcho Podcast Series, we welcome the  psychedelic NY duo @pureimmanence. Residents of Brooklyn's Unter party, @nmb2115 and @kiddosincere have their own distinctive mix of ambient and psychedelic techno.

Last February @Humanaut hosted @Savile, for his 3rd session in the hot seat that is the Hot Mass booth. Since his last set at the club and now, he has moved to a new city, put out some top notch releases and played sets the world over, garnering him residencies at some of best clubs around (also championing those around him all along the way.)

Following a warm up set by Detroit’s 2 Lanes, Savile proceed to play a set that could honestly be described as nothing but a roller coaster ride. Track after track gave way to rapid shifts in genre and style, causing the crowd to responded with enthusiastic cheers to each unexpected twist and turn. So find a seat and enjoy the ride, this one has something for everyone.
