ManooZ is a man on a mission. Throwing down the sort of jackin House music that sounds like it was made with sweaty basements firmly in mind and still with a nod to his Hip-Hop roots, the ManooZ sound is making a firm impact on the global House music community. He constantly delivers a wide spectrum between raw & analog Detroit/Chicago/Garage House and sophisticated warm Deep House. 

Since releasing his first production ‘Touch The Floor’ on UK label Extended Play, ManooZ is a mainstay in the boxes of the House music patriarchs. Names such as Agnès, Steve Bug, Visionquest, Robert Owens, Last Magpie, Julien Sandre, Samuel Deep, Ugly Drums, Borrowed Identity or DJ Caspa are enthusiastically supporting his raw & ballsy sound, yet his across-the-board accessibility shines through, with support continued from industry bibles such as XLR8R, Juno or Rinse FM, where he played live in London in 2012. His steady output led to further releases on quality labels like Morris Audio, Housewax, Hudd Traxx, Alive, Tomorrow is now, Kid! or Seven Music - just to name a few.

Besides holding co-residencies with the blank crew in his hometown Mannheim and being a regular guest in esteemed clubs across Germany, ManooZ has performed his straight vinyl DJ sets in various countries like France, Sweden, The Netherlands or Spain and maintains his ever-current knowledge of what is working on the dancefloors.

FINA Records welcome Jad & The for a new EP that shows off the Australian-born, Berlin-based producer’s majestically melodic house sound. A special dub from 6th Borough Project makes this another essential release. 
Before now Jad & The has served up tracks of the year  (‘Strings That Never Win’ - Mixmag 2017), fronted four piece live act Mitzi—who played alongside the likes of Nile Rodgers—and also produced as Jad & The Ladyboy, all the while picking up fans like Moxie and Bradley Zero. Sonar Kollektiv and Toy Tonics have put out his charming sounds before and this new one is another joyous offering.
 The feel good ‘2 Getha (4 Eva Mix)’ kicks things of with old school drum breaks and loved-up vocals. Big smeared pads, a new age melody and classic bassline line finish it off and carry you away to summery house heaven. ‘Twist Club’ then drops into lush deep house with a long legged bassline tumbling beneath organic drums. It’s a dreamy and romantic cut before ‘Disco Hold Down’ has live sounding jazz drums, choppy vocals and rough edges that take you to the heart of a vibe-fulled basement party. Delusions Of Grandeur’s 6th Borough Project serve up a Dub that’s more stripped back and built on a big rubber bassline. Jacking drums and a more rapturous vocal make it a truly steamy jam.

Produced in collaboration with Berlin-based duo Re.decay, DJ Amir presents a brand new remix of Strata Records founder Kenny Cox’s track ‘Lost My Love’, taken from his long- forgotten mid 70’s album ‘Clap Clap! The Joyful Noise’.

Originally planned to be the second release on Detroit’s mythic Strata label (a precursor to its more famous cousin Strata East), pianist Kenny Cox’s first and only solo album came hot on the heels of The Lyman Woodard Organization’s classic ‘Saturday Night Special’. But, for reasons lost to the mists of time, the LP never saw the light of day until DJ Amir licensed the rights to the label’s catalogue and began scouring the archive in 2012, rediscovering ‘Clap Clap! The Joyful Noise’ and issuing it on his own 180 Proof imprint.

The closing track from ‘Clap Clap! The Joyful Noise’, ‘Lost My Love’ is a bossa-tinged, flute and mellotron string-laden, languid jazz-fusion gem, with Kenny Cox’s delicate electric piano chords at its warm centre. DJ Amir joins forces with Berlin production duo Re.decay for a complete rebuild of the track from the original master stems. Their version retains the cosy, analogue atmospherics of Cox’s original, complete with piano licks and flute trills, adding unhurried jazzy disco drums and drawing out the song’s subtly sleazy bass-line.

Serving as pianist for Etta Jones and recording for Blue Note records with his Contemporary Jazz Quintet, Kenny Cox founded the Strata label in the early 70’s, a natural progression from the Strata Concert Gallery which he opened in the late 60s, a tiny artist-led performance space that played host to jazz luminaries such as Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock and even Charles Mingus (a live recording of whose appearance at the Gallery was issued by BBE Music in 2018). He passed away at his Detroit home in 2008, survived by his widow, Barbara Cox.
