The Apukuna Breath Medicine series of mixes is a gift in support of personal healing, transformation and growth. Our breath is the most readily accessible medicine available to us. There are many ways to work with our breath and this series is in support of your practice. These particular breath medicine journeys are inspired by my own practice that is most similar to Holotropic Breathwork. For me, the breathing is deeper, a little faster, only through the mouth and only through the chest. Many others can find great benefit through the nose or using the belly. [mix002] - This 75-minute journey was recorded in December 2021. The journey includes Native American musicians R. Carlos Nakai (Navajo / Ute), Primeaux & Mike (Oglalla/Dakota (Yankton) Sioux and Ponca & Dine Navajo) and Joanne Shenandoah (Oneida Nation, Wolf Clan, Haudenosaunee). As this breathwork journey was coming together, Joanne Shenanodah breathed her last breath in this life on November 22, 2021. Prayers to Joanne on her journey into ancestorhood. Also included in this mix is a favorite for breathwork - Deya Dova’s Ancient Creation Mother - recorded on the edge of Kīlauea volcano crater on Hawai’i’s Big Island.

These songs were born from an encounter that only Lake Atitlán could host. Between volcano fire and deep waters, indigenous wisdom and local myth, the land itself shaped the dialogue of two artists: Lo.Renzo, Italian multi-instrumentalist and producer, and Laura Catharïna, Brazilian singer and producer, whose voice carries both fragility and strength, shadow and light.

Together they created music as a reflection of the lake — a place where inequality and beauty coexist, where ceremonies open portals to mystery, and where silence invites expression.

The result is an offering of sound that captures not only the essence of the land, but also the transformative power of meeting at the right time, in the right place.

My long awaited debut at Ecstatic Dance Mullum. I had so much fun leading dancers on this dance journey. I knew that I would be taking people to their edges, and some people fell off. Others absolutely revelled in it. We went deep!!!
