Darshan Jesrani is best known as one half of the recording group METRO AREA. (along with Environ records honcho Morgan Geist), their 2002 eponymously named album splashed down with tremendous impact and helped redefine electronic dance music. Darshan tours heavily, does great remixes, (too few if u ask me), continues his stellar work with Morgan, and is working on new material for his Startree label set to debut in 2012.

I have had the great fortune to have Dar as a close pal and partner in the Strobe Lodge parties since their inception in 2005. As a DJ partner Darshan has always brought the ridiculously good business, and a a collaborator he is consistantly thoughtful, gracious, funny as hell, and down to make the party happen. Balearic sounds and Mediterraneanwarmth are the inspirations for Bruno Belissimo’s Bordello A Parigi debut. Drawing on disco, house and funk, Ottimo! is a four tracker of electronic exuberance with Belissimo’s musical ability and range immediately spilling from the speakers. Guitar strings curve around synthlines in the title piece, percussive textures giving way to the mantra-like refrain of “Ottimo!” Thick bass echoes into beaming keys for “Meduse.” Bright notes cascade, grooves  melting with vocoder lyrics as classic disco tones are reimagined in this modern mirrorball medley. Organic rhythms introduce the flip. “Mirage” opens to ripples of bongos and toms as a loose structure takes hold. Hedonistic chants rise to a shimmering chord, kicks and snares funnelling the building energy as bold blasts and samples shriek with delight. “Las Piramides de Ibiza” brings the quartet to a close. Clean drum patterns support joyous notes, a machine dipped voice calling time.

Strewn with echoes of Lionel Richie’s immortal words, the Danish producer’s latest is a beautifully bittersweet house cut assembled from both sampled and recorded bits.
 
The artist notes that the effect of the chorus came to him by way of a good-humoured Italian bartender who regaled his customers by adlibbing the chorus over the instrumental disco and house tracks playing at his bar.
 
The single comes off his forthcoming comeback album, following his critically acclaimed Hey Music Lover from 2003. Specializing in sample-based instrumental loops, Grassskirt shapes his bits and pieces into sophisticated and poignant new material. An architecture of imagined places and forgotten dreams.
